Review of AKA

AKA (2023)
7/10
Over the top but entertaining.

Writer/director Morgan S. Dalibert made this enjoyable French action movie. Well it is enjoyable to watch if you're not too annoyed by a character that can take out an entire army of bandits by himself. Because co-writer/actor Alban Lenoir is playing that character, tough as nails, able to take somebody out by one sucker punch, and there's also nothing wrong with his aiming skills either as every bullet ends up in the skull of a criminal. It's of course all over the top but so are most of the movies in this genre. If you want action then this is a movie for you. No time to rest in this movie, it's action scene after action scene, but they're well choreographed and shot. Eric Cantona, once an immensely popular French footballer (or soccer for the Americans) plays the top boss in AKA. Besides being great at football he knows how to act as well. He's always been tough in sports so this role was a good one for him. I will never score a movie in this genre with more than a seven as it's over the top and not very believable, but it's entertaining, and that's the most important thing with these kind of movies.
