6/10
old timey Africa
15 August 2023
Steve Stratton (Macdonald Carey) is a hard-driving animal trapper in Kenya. He fires Walla for poor work. Odongo is his young assistant. He's expecting a new vet and is shocked to find a woman, Pamela Muir (Rhonda Fleming). He insists on sending her home as soon as possible.

Stratton is definitely not a cuddly beautiful leading man. He's hard, colonial, business-oriented, and a male chauvinist. In other words, he is very fitting for the time and the place. I don't care if they get together, but I do understand the chemistry especially considering the era. Rhonda Fleming is a beauty although not as remembered as the iconic beauties of that era. Her semi-retirement and limited late life filming probably contributed to that. Of course, he can't resists her and she has to love the prickly leading man. As for movie, it has the animals, the locals, and the locations when they are away from the sound stage. It's an old timey colonial African adventure.
