Warning: Spoilers
As a pro mariner, this was one of the crew's favorite movies for the galley. Had it on VHS, and later on DVD. Martin Short plays a Chicago suburbanite who inherits a classic old sailboat moored to a dock in the Caribbean after his uncle dies. He takes the family down for a quick vacation and possibly flip the boat for a quick quarter million. It's in less-than-pristine condition, and the Yacht Broker assigns a 'D List' charter captain to deliver it to Lauderdale --> Enter Capt. Ron, played by Kurt Russell. Things just start to get interesting as Capt. Ron decides to make a hasty underway, despite some seaworthiness concerns - So, Kick the Tires and Light the Fires! If anything's gonna happen, it's gonna happen out there... Notice how Martin Short plays the straight man to Russell's buffoonery, as if the Skipper acted like Gilligan and vice versa.
