Solid action undermined by some odd portrayals...

Warning: Spoilers
The action here was satisfying and every hero got a chance to shine. The voice acting was also solid, as is the case with most all of DC's animated projects. However-and this is a big however-the characterizations are really off.

Certainly when you're dealing with characters that go back for three-quarters of a century you want to mix it up, but this is, for example, one of the oddest Hal Jordans ever. I mean, the ring would not have chosen him if he were really like this.

Wonder Woman is naive and seems to have just arrived in "man's world." Superman is aggressive and arrogant, almost as if there had never been a Jonathan and Martha Kent. The flirtation between them is not enjoyable to watch; there's nothing charming about it whatsoever. Darkseid and DeSaad are as we've always known them, in fact Darkseid is quite imposing and oversized.

Long-time DC fans may find this an enjoyable intro to the '52" era but they may also be a bit put off by some of the quirks here.
