Awesome song, decent film...

A new era and a new Bond usher in this next installment in the series. Live and Let Die follows Bond as he investigates the death of a fellow agent in New Orleans tied to the mysterious local Gangster Boss Mr. Big. But when it turns out that Mr. Big is actually an important government official, Bond finds himself up against colourful henchmen, voodoo magic and a... crocodile farm...

I was obsessed with this film when I was a kid and watched it a countless number of times. I also think this may actually be the first Bond film I ever saw. Roger Moore's take on the character is very different to Connery's, offering a much more suave and humerous 007. The one-liners are out in force now, and I forgot just how funny the script is in this film. The various bad guys, from Kananga to Tee-Hee and of course Baron Samedi are imposing and entertaining to watch, and Jane Seymour's Solitaire still gets me hot under the collar - oof! The problem is that the story feels... not like a Bond film and more like a silly action adventure comedy, and that's fine - but the whole thing feels like it takes place in a different universe from the previous films. Still, I have a lot of nostalgia for it, and that crocodile farm escape stunt blows my mind that the stunt man actually did that for real. Oh, and the theme song by Paul & Linda McCartney is incredible. Fun but flawed.
