One of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen, so one of the best - as it's just thoroughly satisfying and deserving of all the stars!
This is going to sound silly, let's be honest, you probably already think I'm silly for saying this is one of the best movies I've ever seen, since it's a silly movie. But why must silly movies get less respect? But to make this even sillier, I will admit that I avoided this movie for a while because I thought that it was going to turn out to be a drama. I thought somebody was going to die of some disease, or that someone was deathly ill. Don't ask me why I thought that, but I did. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised to find out that that wasn't the vibe of this film at all!
There are a couple of serious threads running through the film, but for the most part is a lighthearted romp that will have you laughing and feeling good. And for any fan of movies and tv, you will see yourself represented in this film, as the lead character lets her geek flag fly. And not just the lead character, but the beautiful Holland Taylor turns out to also be a TV geek in the film! I mean, this film deserves an extra star just for having Holland in it! She doesn't get enough parts in movies, and just seeing her is a joy. She's like the American Maggie Smith, except we Americans don't seem to appreciate our older actresses the way the Brits do. So, I'm glad just anytime I can see her. And she ended up being a hoot here.
Look out for Paul Reubens AKA Pee-wee Herman's last appearance on a movie as well.
