A White Dress for Mariale is an underrated giallo gem, a lot of fun and a must-see for genre fans

I recently watched the Italian gothic giallo gem A White Dress for Mariale (1972) on Tubi. The storyline revolves around a woman who witnessed her father tragically commit suicide as a child. Now a successful woman, she invites friends to a castle, who anticipate having a good time, but their host may have other plans.

Directed by Romano Scavolini (Dog Tags), the film features Ida Galli (The Psychic), Luisi Pistilli (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly), Ivan Rassimov (The Humanoid), Pilar Velázquez (Ace of Hearts), and Gengher Gatti (Madam Kitty).

This is such a fun film and that I loved way more than I expected. The settings, including the house, props, use of wind machines, and lighting, create a perfect atmosphere reminiscent of a haunted house flick. Clever camera angles, classic giallo first-person scenes, and stunning ladies, especially the black girl with wild "props," contribute to the film's charm. The kills are creative, ranging from classic slasher scenes to haunted house sequences, all well-shot and a lot of fun.

In conclusion, A White Dress for Mariale is an underrated giallo gem, a lot of fun and a must-see for genre fans. I would score this an 8/10 and strongly recommend it.
