Watched in 1979 as a high school student. Loved the novel. Really loved this movie. I would've committed sins for John Heard, I mean reverend Dimmesdale. Watched in 2010 era as an English teacher and a mom. The music is now what really evokes an emotional response in me for the brave Hester and her wild child.
Had to buy the DVD as I couldn't imagine ever being in a position of not being able to view this masterpiece. Never got to assign it for school. 😓 but I plan to watch it every few years I did teach The Crucible and I love the shared time period of the late 1600s. Miller's play is flawed but Hawthorne's novel is still an amazing classic.
