Would it have been better if they just made a rip off of Roadhouse and called it something else and despite people loving it a lot we all noticed they ripped off Roadhouse? I have to say when it comes to action movies, I cannot see that not working. I think that there is enough power for Jake Gyllenhaal's
star to have called this movie anything they wanted and get away with it being a rip-off of the 1989 classic. Then again it may shock some how many people did not see the original (it's just that everyone (man) who has seen it unconditionally loved it!)
I like this movie. It's your typical action movie, nothing more, good action sequences, cool fights, Corner McGregor's acting was so bad it's entertaining. The story plot was interesting with its quick pasted twists but made the movie longer than expected. Overall, not a waste of time at all, it was worth seeing. I would have seen this in the movie theatre.
But admittingly, Patrick Swayze was a different type of man of a different generation than Jake Gyllenhaal's Dolton. It felt like Swayze's Dalton was a nontoxic man you could bring to the present, but Gyllenhaals' take was too attached to the new man of today, not a bad thing at all just different, different enough that this should have been a good rip off of Road House, not a remake.
