A strong story of simple elements
deickemeyer9 May 2018
This film is worthy of being classed with the notable short stories that have been written around the beloved figure of Abraham Lincoln. Ralph Ince gives a thoroughly satisfying impersonation of Lincoln, both as president and also in the earlier years when he loved Ann Rutledge. The love story is pictured as a reverie by the president while sitting before his fireside. Anita Stewart was graceful and appealing as the ill-fated girl who won Lincoln's heart. A strong story of simple elements handled in a way that is sure to make it widely popular. - The Moving Picture World, February 21, 1914
