The daughter of wealthy parents, Marcia Schuyler ( Gladys Leslie ) is closely watched by her strict governess, Quincy ( Isabel Vernon ). When the girl's parents leave for Japan, Quincy is instructed to send her to boarding school, but Marcia, longing for freedom, instead switches places with Quincy's niece who is on her way to an orphanage. Marcia is adopted by Farmer Benton, and the girl's cheerful presence soon changes the mood of the household. Benton becomes less harsh and his son Dave ( Ray Hallor ) becomes an ambitious young man. When Marcia learns of her parents return and their frantic search for her, she asks Dave to take her back to the city and receive the reward offered for her return. Dave remains in the city, taking a job in an office, and when he asks Marcia to be his bride, she consents on the condition that they return to the carefree country life.
