It's rare I feel the need to post an item announcing the sale of a particular DVD and/or Blu-ray set, but Universal's 100th Anniversary Collection is a pretty swanky item and Amazon is offering both the DVD and Blu-ray editions at an incredibly marked down rate. Included are 25 films, though there is one difference between the DVD and Blu-ray editions (Click Here). Included in both sets are the 24 films listed below, but the Blu-ray set includes the Spanish version of Bela Lugosi's 1931 Dracula while the DVD set includes Schindler's List, which has since been released on Blu-ray following the initial release of this set: Despicable Me Mamma Mia! The Movie The Bourne Identity The Fast and the Furious Apollo 13 Jurassic Park Do the Right Thing Field of Dreams Out of Africa Back to the Future The Breakfast Club Scarface E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial National Lampoon's Animal House Jaws...

Universal is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012 and will commemorate its centennial with a yearlong celebration honoring the studio’s rich film history and cultural legacy, which, as every horror fan knows, includes a plethora of genre films. A significant element of the centennial includes the extensive restoration of 13 of the studio’s most beloved titles, 6 of which are near and dear to our hearts.
Because of the enormity of Universal's campaign, we're going to provide the full press release below, but note that the horror highlight is definitely the upcoming restoration of The Birds, Dracula (1931), Dracula Spanish (1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, and Bride of Frankenstein.
From the Press Release:
Universal Studios Home Entertainment will kick off the celebration in January with a special 50th anniversary release of To Kill a Mockingbird, debuting on Blu-ray for the first time ever. Throughout the year Universal will pay tribute to other influential films in...

Paramount Pictures isn’t the only one celebrating its centennial. Its competitor, Universal Pictures, is also celebrating its 100th year as a movie studio. So how does a movie studio as large as Universal Pictures celebrate such a momentous occasion? Well you restore 13 of your classic titles which includes All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931) , Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting, and To Kill a Mockingbird. To Kill a Mockingbird would be the first movie that will be restored and released Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack on January 31st. All of the restored titles will be released on a limited edition collector’s set, and near the end of the year we can look forward to Blu-ray releases for Universal’s Classic Monster and Alfred Hitchcock series. I am already eyeing Jaws, Schindler’s List,...

Universal and Paramount are both celebrating their centennial anniversary in 2012, and like Paramount [1], Universal is debuting a new logo to mark the occasion. That logo will bow on March 2 in front of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, and be on all Universal films going forward. The studio is doing something much better than that, however. A press release announces that Universal will also restore thirteen classic films this year. The films are: All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931), Dracula (Spanish, 1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting and To Kill a Mockingbird. Precise details of the restorations are yet to be revealed. Many of those will hit Blu-ray, starting with To Kill a Mockingbird this month; Jaws and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial will follow, with 2012 finishing off with Blu-ray releases of Universal's classic monster lineup and Alfred Hitchcock films.

Universal Studios is celebrating it’s 100 year birthday this year and not only will they be celebrating all year long with various events and celebrations, they also have a slightly altered logo to mark the occasion.
Universal Studios has been responsible for some of the greatest films ever made. The ones they single out in the press release below are All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931), Dracula Spanish (1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting and To Kill a Mockingbird as each will be getting special remastered Blu-ray version but don’t forget classics like Back to the Future, the original Wolf Man, Cape Fear, Lorenzo’s Oil, the list really does go on for ever. In fact if you look at Wikipedia, you’ll see a list of hundreds of movies from the world famous studio.
