Jan Kiepura was a famous singer from the 1930s who had to escape the Nazis and made his home in the States. This film was made in an English and German versions,as was often the case with early talkies. This film was originally about 100 minutes long. The copy I have watched is 58 minutes long.I suspect that this is the copy distributed in America in 1935.The story is fairly basic.Modular lives in Naples.Whilst singing one day he is heard by a British socialite who persuades him to back with her to London to be trained. However he finds himself very much a fish out of water.Furthermore he is snubbed by her at a party so decides to return to Naples and his true love. This film is mainly of interest to fans of Kiepura.
