Airy musical comedy
aromatic-216 August 2001
Ben Cooper and Molly Bee have a grand time singing, dancing, and romancing country style in a perfect family movie. The heaviest issue is whether curmudgeonly Edgar Buchanan, with a true heart of gold, will be forced to retire. Slim Pickens is wonderfully corny in his role. Kick off your shoes, grab a glass of lemonade, and enjoy.

By the way, the genre is off -- this is a comedy with some music -- not, by any stretch of an imagination, a drama.

Is this movie available? in VHS or DVD?

Yes I would also like to purchase a copy if it is available either VHS or DVD just a copy of it would be fine in either format. This is a very god movie, I saw many years ago on TV and fell in love with it, but have not been able to find it since. The characters are just wonderful and that caboose was something else. I sure wish I could find it for purchase. I really like Edgar Buchanan (Uncle Joe) always like him even in Petticoat Junction. This will take you back in time when things were must easier and less complicated, no I Pods, No PCs. No Cell phones. Just a nice family show. The way I wish things were today nice and laid back.

Chartroose Caboose is one of my favorite movies because I know all about it from conception to the end.

CC was filmed in beautiful Oregon in 1960 by two independent film makers, Stan Doughtery and Wm. Red Reynolds. It was filmed with a great crew in Panovision, a special lens invented by Robert Gothchalk and used once before for Mike Todd's "Around the World in 80 Days". Buckanan and Pickens worked very well together for some good comedy and the railroad scenes were excellent for train enthusiasts. Little Mike McGreevey is now middle-aged and going strong. I would like to know how to obtain a video or copy of the film print of Chartroose Caboose. Does anyone know who to contact? Universal films was the eventual buyer-distributor of CC.
