Oh, man! This thing scared the heck out of me when I first watched it... and I was SIXTEEN!!!

That creepy animated Barbie is scary as hell! I want to stop talking about her now.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Factoid: She Sings All The Songs On The Soundtrack

Dance! Workout With Barbie is really a fun workout. And superstar-in-the -making Jennifer Love Hewitt (she's known as "Love" in this video) sings ALL the original songs (I especially love FASHION STATEMENT).

A classic

As a small girl, not many things can get you to do aerobics. This can. It might be a little dated - all right, a lot dated - but it really works. The problems with it are the cheesy music, the over-enthusiastic leader, the hideously bright-coloured leg warmers and the bizarre animated Barbie, but these are the things that really work to make it a lot of fun for little girls. Doubtless there are countless teenagers and twenty-somethings in the world today who learnt the basics of aerobics from this video, and it still appeals. The issues of crass commercialism and female stereotyping may apply, but when you're a seven-year-old girl, those things really don't matter. All this video demonstrates is how to do the bunny-hop and get a bit of exercise, and that's why I would heartily recommend it to any parent with young daughters who would prefer the TV to encourage rather than discourage movement.

Fun and appealing, if perhaps too fast and complex for beginners
TheLittleSongbird3 June 2012
I found myself quite taken by Dance! Workout with Barbie. I do have 3 year old friends, who are very into Barbie, and when I visited them a couple of days back they played this video. Being somebody who does like Barbie(admittedly) I was surprised at how fun and appealing it was. It is perhaps a little rushed in the pacing, with some of the choreography while refreshingly less simplistic than it could've been a bit too fast and complex for those just beginning(I did notice my friends did at times get frustrated if they didn't get a certain move first time). Plus some of the colours of the sets for my liking were nauseatingly bright. However, I can't deny the enthusiasm from all involved, the demonstrations looked as though they were being demonstrated who loved doing it rather than for the sake of it. The aerobic moves are a little complicated at first, but brisk, well performed and more sophisticated than the "one, two, three, turn-around"(or something like that) moves. The songs are upbeat and sweet, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt is full of zest and sings beautifully. The girls are sweet, pretty and energetic, and the instructor is efficient and doesn't seem too stern or sugary. So all in all, beginners may find it hard to keep up at first and the sets may not be to peoples' tastes, but I loved the enthusiasm and its sense of fun. 7/10 Bethany Cox

I used to do this video as a kids with my sisters all the time, I just found my old tape and watched it for fun. I couldn't even keep up with the moves. They are erratic and all over the place. I have to admit the work out is great for hyper 7 year old girls. It's funny to do the running man called the Jammin Jogger in the video. The exercise outfits scare me. As well as the five year old named Holly in a pink tutu and spandex. Barbie is really a Barbie doll, remember the ones with the flexible joints? Its weird to hear Barbie talk and see that her lips are not moving. The host is easy to understand. The back up dancers are not that great. They are little girls of all ages 5-13 and all races.
