Writer Raven Touchstone and director Henri Pachard deliver a surprisingly optimistic finish to this 2-part story of Number One Fan Jeanna Fine's adoration of Hothouse Rose, a porn star played by the voluptuous Victoria Paris.
Fine dominated Part One with a powerful performance, and Paris gets to have more presence in the sequel, including a show-stopping climactic lesbian scene for the duo. While many of the main roles from the first film are reprised, Buck Adams scores a memorable characterization as a wheel-chair-bound owner of a club where Rose is a star stripper (between her movie shoots). His sex scenes, in character, are impressive -relatively passive as the woman takes the lead in servicing him.
What impressed me the most is the sincerity of the filmmakers who clearly are proud of their work, not mere documentarians of sex acts for a horny public. Fine's character of Liz seemingly is ruining her life in her obsession with the "ideal" represented by a successful porn actress Rose, but manages to straighten out and ends the movie on an optimistic note, something unheard of in the mainstream melodramas concerning extreme fandom.
Adult Cinema fans are well aware of the talent Jeanna Fine brought to her movies and videos, and this two-parter underscores her contribution and the forgotten truism that XXX can be an extension of "real" movies, not just a laughing stock as it is considered in today's environment where gonzo content is worshiped and any attempt at storytelling mocked.
