Mort Engelberg, who was a producer on films including Smokey and the Bandit and The Big Easy before transitioning into politics as an “advance man” for Bill Clinton and other presidential candidates, died Saturday in Los Angeles of natural causes. He was 86.
“He was a wonderful person, a wonderful husband. He loved the movie business, and he loved his work with President Clinton,” his wife, Helaine Blatt, told The Hollywood Reporter. “He told the best stories of anyone I ever met, the best jokes.”
Born and raised in Memphis, Engelberg graduated from the University of Illinois and then spent a year working on a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri. He left school before completing that degree and worked as a journalist for a few years before moving to Washington in 1961 to work for Sargent Shriver, the director of the then-newly formed Peace Corps, and later...

“And Just Like That” is back on Max for a second season, and it’s bringing some famous — and familiar — faces.
Kim Cattrall confirmed that she will reprise her role of Samantha Jones in an on-camera cameo. Her character communicated with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) via text message throughout the first season, including Mr. Big’s funeral and the Paris finale.
A slim and trim John Corbett will return as Carrie’s former fiance Aidan Shaw as she moves on from the death of her husband.
“Sex and the City” fans will also be thrilled that Candice Bergen will reprise her role as Carrie’s former editor Enid Frick. Julie Halston will also be back as socialite Bitsy Von Muffling, who is as delightful as her name.
Of course, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are back as Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes, Carrie’s longtime BFFs.

For 25 years, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and others in their orbit (especially their unforgettable fourth bestie, Samantha), have pushed boundaries. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the friends — then in their 30s — normalized the idea of women as sexual beings and depicted women’s full lives as inclusive of both work and play. As far-fetched as the show could be (how did a freelance advice columnist afford racks of Jimmy Choo shoes? Where were all the New Yorkers who were not rich and white?), Sex and the City entertained while it educated.
Fast forward to And Just Like That, developed by Michael Patrick King and written by a diverse writers room. The series focuses on the group of women, now in their 50s — a demographic too rarely featured as speaking characters on television. And it does so in affirming ways that could be transformational for cultural perceptions of women, work, family and care.

It’s unclear what Aidan’s (John Corbett) ex-wife Kathy’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) intentions are when she calls Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) to have coffee in And Just Like That…’s "There Goes the Neighborhood." Is there finally going to be a confrontation about that kiss in Abu Dhabi 13 years ago? Does Kathy want Aidan back? Based on how over-the-top much of Ajlt has been so far, something dramatic seems likely to happen as a result of this call.

And just like that, Sex and the City fans finally laid eyes on the woman Aidan Shaw married. Kathy, Aidan’s ex-wife, appeared for the first time in “There Goes the Neighborhood,” the most recent episode of the iconic series’ reboot. While Kathy is brand new to the series, the actor who played her has an interesting connection to the original Sex and the City. Rosemarie DeWitt portrayed Kathy. The actor, best known for her work in La La Land and The Staircase, is married to one of Carrie Bradshaw’s failed love interests.
Rosemarie DeWitt is married to Ron Livingston
In And Just Like That… Dewitt plays Aidan Shaw’s ex-wife, Kathy, but in real life, DeWitt is married to Ron Livingston. Livingston and DeWitt tied the knot in 2009. They share two children, the first of whom they adopted in 2013. In 2016, they welcomed their second child through adoption.

It’s a hot summer day, the car AC is on turbo and the radio is blasting Miguel’s “Sure Thing.” My 8-year-old nephew is singing along happily — until I tell him the song is older than he is.
He’s extremely puzzled. But it’s true.
“Sure Thing” was released in 2010 and was named Billboard’s No. 1 R&b/hip-hop song of 2011. But TikTok resurrected the melodic track this year, and the platform thrust it to higher heights on the pop charts, as streaming platforms added it to current playlists and radio stations began replaying the song 13 years after its release.
Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” was released in 2019, but the addictive bop became a favorite on her ultra-popular Eras Tour, and now it’s in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Sia, thanks to TikTok, relaunched a platinum hit with “Unstoppable” late last year, though it was released...

Welcome to Jennyville. Population: …It’s complicated. On a spring morning in Nashville, though, it’s four: the town’s titular Jenny Tolman, producer Dave Brainard, Tolman’s publicist and me. We’re seated in Brainard and Tolman’s home studio, discussing the origins of Tolman’s forthcoming album There Goes the Neighborhood, and its fascinating, funny and fictional setting.
A loose concept album, the entire record takes place within “Jennyville,” a Willy Wonka-like burg full of eccentric characters that Tolman created as a way to “take a microscope to the really small town.

The response to George Clooney’s latest drama, the Coen brothers-penned “Suburbicon” has been mixed to say the least. Our own Jessica Kiang called it “Coen brothers karaoke,” but at the end of the day gave it a review perhaps a little bitt more charitable writing, “‘Suburbicon’ has two storylines, the funny one about white people killing each other and the serious one about real-life-inspired black people stoically resisting injustice and they are separate, not equal.” And note she says the cinematography of Robert Elswit (“There Will Be Blood,” “Inherent Vice”) is aces, so there’ that.

And this upcoming autumn is no different: pumpkin spice is primed for its yearly rebirth and we have got a slew of fantastic movies set to be released. Among those films vying for Oscar consideration, there is one particular release utterly chock-full of household names: Paramount Pictures’ crime comedy “Suburbicon.”
Let’s start with the director because you might be familiar with his work both in front of and behind the camera: George Clooney (“The Ides of March,” “The Monuments Men”).

Dr. Cahill has done her job.
For 13 episodes, she has tried to reach Riggs during their weekly sessions. It seemed like lost cause.
But by the end of Lethal Weapon Season 1 Episode 14, we see how much of an impact Dr. Cahill has really made on Martin Riggs.
I love when Lethal Weapon shifts the focus from Riggs to another member of the team. A few episodes back we spent some time with Avery.
This time around we got to know Dr. Cahill a little better.
She found herself in a bit of trouble after she was targeted by a stalker who murdered her boyfriend, but lucky for her she had the best team on the Lapd working on her case.
Dr. Cahill is usually the one trying to solve people's problems, so it was a nice change of pace to watch Riggs and Murtaugh try to solve her problem.

Omg, you guys. This show.
Despite all the fun that happened on Lethal Weapon Season 1 Episode 4, things got a little tense between our two favorite detectives.
So bad, in fact, that they had to go through a bit of couples therapy. The great thing about guys, though, is they don't hold grudges, and, soon enough, the best bromance on TV was back and better than ever.
Riggs may be "crazier than a sack of cats" most of the time, but Murtaugh showed he has a little bit of crazy running through him, too.
He moved out of his old neighborhood to get away from the crime, so he was more than a little disturbed when a string of robberies was taking place near his home. Those types of things weren't supposed to happen where he lived.
The case was personal to him.
He was almost a little arrogant about it.

"There Goes the Neighborhood" is rife with high quality goodies. Right out of the gate we get Dr. Mo Cahill all smokin' hot in a shortie wetsuit at the same beach where (surprise) hobo Riggs crouches over a spicket rinsing his delicates. She does look impressively smoking hot, by the way, and hotter yet when she slams Riggs about his raggedy-man appearance. This is the kind of feistiness that gives a character depth and staying power, so it's a huge boost for the Lapd shrink.

Could Riggs and Murtaugh be headed for a separation?
While it appears they are working together for the most part, they do spend some time in Dr. Cahill's office. What could possibly be going on between these two?
We're guessing that Murtaugh was the one who suggested the meeting with the good doctor. It's totally something he would do, especially considering he's the more sensitive of the two.

While it appears they are working together for the most part, they do spend some time in Dr. Cahill's office. What could possibly be going on between these two?
We're guessing that Murtaugh was the one who suggested the meeting with the good doctor. It's totally something he would do, especially considering he's the more sensitive of the two.

I recently posted a Joe Walsh song on my Facebook wall and the reaction was mixed. One commenter wrote, "Walsh always struck me as the real-life Spicoli, and that was about as seriously as I could take him." This is a common misconception about Walsh.
Walsh has had a music career of over five decades. There are many, many people who know of him mostly as a member of the Eagles (since 1975) who had a hit in 1978 with a funny song, "Life's Been Good." Yet Walsh was a music biz veteran of eleven years’ standing when Hotel California was released in 1976; he would not have been recruited into the Eagles if he had not already established himself as such a distinctive guitarist that he could instantly give them the rock cred they so desired. Already on his resume were the killer riffs of "Rocky Mountain Way," "Turn to Stone," "Walk Away,...

Apparently, when Fear the Walking Dead’s Travis is wrong, he isn’t just a little wrong, he’s completely and totally wrong. (Sorry if that sounded like Liza, but… )

Oh, car air bags. What can’t they do? Save your life during an accident, for one. Used as a prop against your neighbors works, too. Seth Rogen’s character finds out the hard way the many uses of air bags in a new trailer for Nick Stoller’s “Neighbors”. Personally, I’d just go over there and punch Zac Efron. Or, failing that, throw paint on his house and run away. Yeah, probably the latter. Dude looks kinda too buff to take head-on. Check out the new trailer and a new poster below. Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne lead the cast of Neighbors, a comedy about a young couple suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby. Neighbors is directed by Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek). Also starring Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

X-Men producer John Palermo is in hot water after making several shocking racist comments on his Facebook (which has since been taken down). Palermo, who's known for working as Hugh Jackman's producing partner, called out celebs like Kanye West, Julie Chen and Anderson Cooper on his page last month in a racist rant. Referencing Chen's plastic surgery shocker on The Talk, Palermo wrote on Sept. 12 (via THR), "I'm crazy about Julie Chen!!! Now that her eyes are finally open, she should leave [husband] Monster Moonves." The same day, he took on news that Kim Kardashian and West had bought a Bel-Air mansion, posting, "There goes the neighborhood!!! It looks like a Poor Persian Palace,...

There goes the neighborhood! Alan Tudyk and Rex Lee will not be returning to Suburgatory for the ABC sitcom's third season, sources confirm to E! News. Sources tell us that Tudyk, who plays George's (Jeremy Sisto) zany dentist friend, and Lee, who plays the high school guidance counselor Mr. Wolfe, could potentially return as guest stars. Deadline first reported the news of Tudyk and Lee's departure and cites a reduction in the license fee, which lead to budget cuts, as the reason. Fan favorite Parker Young, who plays Tess' (Jane Levy) dumb-but-cute boyfriend Ryan, also won't be around Chatwin as much next season, as his pilot Enlisted was ordered to series by...

There goes the neighborhood.
A few days ago, a 30-second teaser trailer arrived online for Paranormal Activity 4, the mysterious next installment in the Paranormal franchise. Moving outside of the family of primary protagonist-turned-antagonist Katie (Katie Featherston), the latest trailer offers more clues as to the sequels plot. Set 5 years after the events in Paranormal Activity 2, Paranormal Activity 4 follows Nevada teen Alice (Kathryn Newton), who becomes suspicious of her new neighbors, particularly after their young son Robbie moves in with Alice's family after his mother is sent to the hospital.
Is Robbie actually Hunter, the nephew Katie grabbed at the end of Paranormal Activity 2? Is that really a question? At this point, the Paranormal movies have a kind of formula to them — shadow-y figures, sheets being pulled off a bed, cameras all over the house — but it seems like the scares will continue, and we're sure that...

This review is about The Looney Tunes Show: There Goes the Neighborhood – an excellent sitcom take on a tried-and-true franchise.
However, there’s an “elephant in the room” that needs to be addressed.
It’s taken a while, but Warner Bros is slowly getting better at releasing its animated series on DVD. In past years, animated series have often been released in volumes. Typically, viewers pay ten to fourteen dollars for only a four-episode volume. Then, another volume is released, followed by another. You buy the volumes.
Why?
Because you love the series.
Then, three volumes later, you discover that Warner Bros has released the collection – for a fraction of the cost. It’s irritating. Fans end up spending extra money, only for extra DVD cases. Think about it. A full twenty-eight-episode season could result in the purchase of seven separate DVDs, costing you seventy to a hundred dollars.

Activision’s official Call of Duty Twitter account revealed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will have some sort of Nuketown Zombie map when the game launches this November.
The Tweet announcing the news lacks any details about how Treyarch’s zombies will end up in the endlessly spam voted multiplayer map from Black Ops, and only contains the above picture with the tag line “There goes the neighborhood”.
It’s also unclear if this will be the Nuketown map that was promised as a pre-order bonus, a standard part of Black Ops 2‘s Zombie mode, or additional Dlc that will be available for Black Ops 2 post launch.
We will keep our eyes peeled for additional information and let you know as soon as Activision announces the full details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2‘s Nuketown Zombie map.

CBS' Big Brother (2.4/7 among adults 18-49) topped the mostly rerun competition on Sunday in the 18-49 demographic. It was even with last week. But CBS' new reality series Same Name (1.5/4), featuring celebrities and ordinary people sharing the same moniker, was off to a slow start at 9 Pm. It held onto a so-so 63% of its Big Brother lead-in and was down 6% from the premiere in the same slot of the long-forgotten There Goes the Neighborhood two summers ago. CBS (1.5/5, 6.4 million) still won the night, but in the demo it barely edged Fox (1.4/4), which aired comedy repeats. NBC's Dateline NBC (1.0/3) posted its highest rating since May, while, following an America's Got Talent repeat (1.1/3), The Marriage Ref (1.0/3) was even with last week. NBC finished third for the night with a 1.0/3, followed by ABC (0.9/3), which aired reruns.
