In the movie S.I.T., directed by Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, the mystery revolves around the death of Navya of Navya Software Solutions in her own home. Acp Partha Saradhi and his team of four dive into the investigation to solve the case. There’s only one death, and yet there are multiple suspects, each raising their hands as if it’s some kind of twisted game show, and they are all claiming they did the killing to win prizes. Rather than solving a murder, it becomes this monotonous game at one point and makes you think, “Here we go again,” leaving you to guess who actually murdered her. Here, all the suspects have different motives and intentions, including her husband, her ex-boyfriend, her parents, and even the police. Let’s dive into S.I.T.‘s story to find out what happened to Navya.

The National superfan David Letterman got the chance to sit down with the band’s frontman Matt Berninger for a long conversation about music, songwriting, and their individual battles with depression.
The conversation debuted Friday, and immediately got right to the heavy stuff. Berninger opened up about the deep phase of depression he was in during the pandemic and even shared the doubts he had about touring, or even playing in a band again. Letterman, in turn, spoke about some of his own bouts of depression, as well as cycles of feeling “moody or blue,...

These last few years the Criterion Channel have made October viewing much easier to prioritize, and in the spirit of their ’70s and ’80s horror series we’ve graduated to––you guessed it––”’90s Horror.” A couple of obvious classics stand with cult favorites and more unknown entities (When a Stranger Calls Back and Def By Temptation are new to me). Three more series continue the trend: “Technothrillers” does what it says on the tin, courtesy the likes of eXistenZ and Demonlover; “Art-House Horror” is precisely the kind of place to host Cure, Suspiria, Onibaba; and “Pre-Code Horror” is a black-and-white dream. Phantom of the Paradise, Unfriended, and John Brahm’s The Lodger are added elsewhere.
James Gray is the latest with an “Adventures in Moviegoing” series populated by deep cuts and straight classics. Stonewalling and restorations of Trouble Every Day and The Devil, Probably make streaming debuts, while Flesh for Frankenstein,...

The enjoyably daft sci-fi twister starring Ben Affleck is a good jumping-off point for classic intrigues ranging from The 39 Steps and JFK to Soylent Green and The Net
Conspiracy thrillers can excel in two ways. Some strike with enough chilling plausibility to change the way you see the world, or at least the powers controlling it, while others delight with the sheer foil-hatted bonkersness of their plotting.
Hypnotic, an elaborately loopy sci-fi conspiracy twister from B-movie stalwart Robert Rodriguez, falls firmly and unapologetically into the latter category. Audiences weren’t persuaded – it tanked in cinemas – but I think it has the makings of classic midnight-marathon fodder. This is, after all, a film about a gruff cop (a remarkably straight-faced Ben Affleck) gradually uncovering, in the course of investigating his daughter’s disappearance, an elite group of hypnotists behind a spate of bank heists and more seismic world events. Things somehow get more absurd from there,...

Pop/Edm singer Lachi has probably put as much work into being an artist as she has into being an advocate for the disabled community. She has sung at the Lincoln Center and the White House, spoken at the United Nations and become a member of the Grammy Board, where she has helped make the awards ceremony more accessible for artists with disabilities. The artist has also brought in members with disabilities to the Recording Academy, including Namel Norris, Gaelynn Lea, Siedah Garrett and Ryan Nelson. Lachi has accomplished all this in addition to her work establishing the Ford Foundation-funded global network Rampd, or Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities, which has collaborated with such entertainment giants as Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The singer, who is legally blind, has penned a new song to honor the late Judy Heumann, special advisor for international disability rights under the Barack Obama administration,...

Arkane Studios are perhaps most known for their takes on the Immersive-Sim genre. First-person games where the player is usually given a large toolset and environment to allow them to come up with multiple solutions for particular problems and goals. Dishonored honored the legacy of games like Thief, Prey played as if it was a modern take on System Shock, and Deathloop showed they could take these ideas and concepts and apply them to an original approach, damn near mixing them with a rogue-like. At this point, an Arkane Studios release has a certain level of pedigree and expectation, lending an air of excitement to their latest project, Redfall.
Redfall is a co-op looter shooter in which players pick one of four characters with their own unique personalities and abilities. They then enter Redfall, Massachusetts where a cataclysmic event has caused the town to be overrun with vampires and the sun permanently blocked out.

Just a couple of weeks after sharing their new album 10,000 gecs, 100 gecs took over Los Angeles’ Boiler Room the other night for a DJ set that incuded — among an array of bangers — a very gec-ified version of “Toxicity” by System of a Down.
It’s not too difficult to trace Laura Les and Dylan Brady’s abrasive, industrial hyperpop back to System of a Down’s adrenaline-fueled nu-metal. The duo toned down the original track’s guitars in favor of chopped-up instrumentals, a few beat drops, and bass boosted loud enough to cause some minor tectonic shifts.
The hour-and-a-half-long set also included House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll,” Harry Belafonte’s “Jump in the Line” back-to-back with Smash Mouth’s “Walkin’ on the Sun,” Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” mashed up with Vince Staples’ “Yeah Right,” and many other great choices. See 100 gecs’ remix of “Toxicity” below,...

Beta Cinema has picked up sales rights to director Lukas Nathrath’s first feature film “One Last Evening,” a tragicomedy that competed in Locarno’s First Look selection and won the main prize. Produced on a micro-budget, “One Last Evening” will world premiere in International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Tiger Competition and subsequently at the Max Ophüls Preis Filmfestival.
“One Last Evening” (original title “Letzter Abend”) is set during the standstill of the pandemic summer and was shot over seven days, almost entirely in the protagonists’ city apartment: A young couple want a fresh start, moving from Hannover to Berlin. Lisa is an on-the-rise doctor bracing herself for a new position, Clemens is a talented but unsuccessful singer-songwriter crippled by self-doubts. To say goodbye, they host a dinner party in their now empty flat. But good friends cancel — and uninvited guests show up. As the attendees start eying each other’s achievements,...

Geneva, Dec 10 (Ians) High levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria are causing life-threatening bloodstream infections, according to the latest report released by the Who.
For the first time, the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (Glass) report released on Friday provides analyses of antimicrobial resistance (Amr) rates in national testing coverage, Amr trends since 2017, and data on antimicrobial consumption in humans in 27 countries.
The report shows more than 50 per cent resistance in bacteria, which frequently causes bloodstream infections that require treatment with last-resort antibiotics. Meanwhile, common bacterial infections are becoming increasingly resistant to treatments. More than 60 per cent of Neisseria gonorrhoea isolates, a common sexually transmitted disease, have shown resistance to the common oral antibacterial ciprofloxacin.
Who’s Essential Medicines List divides antibiotics into three categories: access, watch and reserve. Medicines in the access group are available at all times as treatments for a wide range of common infections...

Alright everyone, we’ve got all the spookies of October out of our system. Time to turn our eye to Hulu’s list of new releases for November 2022 to celebrate a new fall tradition of…hunky male dancers?
That’s right, Hulu’s biggest original title for November 2022 is Welcome to Chippendales on Nov. 22. This limited series stars Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) as Somen “Steve” Banerjee, the real life founder of the original Chippendales club of exotic male dancers. After hits like The Dropout and Pam & Tommy, Hulu likely has high hopes for this one.
The other big original series of note this month is FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble on Nov. 17. This is based on a 2019 novel of the same name and stars Jesse Eisenberg as the titular Toby Fleischman in crisis. Before that, Hulu is teaming up with ABC for some true crime docuseries like Where is Private Dulaney?...

In the 1990s, the internet was scary. A lot of new communication technology had opened up to the public, and Hollywood responded by making a slew of paranoid cyber-thrillers, each one positing a near-future world where one's personal information was no longer private, and where wealthy, corrupt international companies paid top-dollar to get said information for their own nefarious purposes. It was a future where the human consciousness had been damaged by prolonged consumption to increasingly truncated information nuggets. I know -- crazy, right?
Movies like Brett Leonard's "The Lawnmower Man" envisioned V.R. technology as capable of forcibly evolving the human brain. Iain Softley's "Hackers" (1995) uncovered a neo-punk subculture of computer-savvy teens who would access anything and do anything their prankish minds desired. Irwin Winkler's "The Net" (1995) was the most daring of all, suggesting that future people might spend all their time in online chat rooms...

In February of this year Hulu unleashed the true crime limited series “Pam & Tommy.” The Emmy-nominated series prompted audiences to look at the nature of celebrity culture, misogyny, and complicity in the wake of the infamous 1990s sex tape that shaped the internet. This month Robert Siegel, one-half of the creative team that brought “Pam & Tommy” to screens, returns with a similar true-life story: “Welcome to Chippendales.”
“Welcome to Chippendales” follows Somen “Steve” Banerjee’s (Kumail Nanjiani) rise and fall in the adult entertainment industry. Matt Shakman directs the series, with Nanjiani, his wife Emily V. Gordon, co-showrunner and writer Siegel, co-showrunner Jenni Konner, and writer Rajiv Joseph among the executive producers.
Per the official synopsis, the sprawling true crime saga “Welcome to Chippendales” tells the outrageous true story of Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire. The series...

A sprig of roaring power emo with your grime, madam? Side of jazz soul? Dash of playlist indie? The modern Reading Festival is an eclectic beast. For the first 45 or so years since one of the oldest existing popular music festivals settled in Reading, through periods of prog, hard rock, metal and indie dominance, it acted as the place that anyone who wasn’t interested in pop music could make their summer second home. Since around 2018, though, it’s faced an identity crisis. What do you do when your core niche – rock music – no longer sells the tickets you have to shift?
Reading & Leeds’s answer has been an attempt to become all festivals to all people – well, all glitter-smothered students clothed largely in netting. The 2022 festival, as a result, resembles three different festivals for the price of one. Friday is akin to a condensed Wireless, headed by rap and grime but accepting all-comers.

Plot: Set in 2024, The Undeclared War tracks a leading team of analysts buried in the heart of Gchq, secretly working to ward off a series of cyber-attacks on the UK in the run up to a general election. When a routine stress test of internet infrastructure goes awry 21-year-old Gchq intern Saara Parvin suddenly finds herself operating on the invisible frontier of high-stakes cyber warfare.
Review: We live in an era of automation, technology, and progress which also means our scariest stories will center on someone taking advantage of the advancements that make our society function. While we often see evil villains threaten the world in big-budget action movies like Mission: Impossible, the threat is a very real one and is even more frightening when presented realistically. The new series The Undeclared War proposes one such scenario that brings modern society to its knees when political superpowers play god with global infrastructure.

Board up the haunted houses and keep your creepy woods: In the modern age, there’s simply no place more terrifying than the internet.
Since even before the days of the Sandra Bullock-starring “The Net” from 1995, cyberspace has provided a compelling backdrop to countless horror, thriller, and suspense films. Some are rooted in science fiction, while others employ the supernatural. The eerie expanse of the web provides for it all and is made infinitely more interesting by the spooky implications of an unseen world that millions of users don’t actually understand.
Found footage flicks are among some of the first scary internet movies to come to mind, with cheeky titles like “Unfriended,” “Followers,” and even “#Horror” bringing a knowing goofiness to the conceit of computer screen films. “Searching” and “Host” garnered newfound appreciation for the format, integrating smart authenticity into their design and direction. Meanwhile, movies like “Spree...

Breaking through at 50 miles per hour, Sandra Bullock hasn’t slowed down since “Speed.” Although the veteran performer’s first acting credit belongs to a minor part in the 1987 thriller “Hangmen” (which she’d follow up with a handful of straight-to-video releases and TV projects), Bullock didn’t become a household name among movie lovers until the mid ’90s.
After dazzling audiences and the box office as bus-jumping hero Annie Porter in the 1994 smash hit “Speed” opposite Keanu Reeves, Bullock was regularly cast in action-packed suspense flicks and lighter rom-com fare. She’d lead in both Jon Turteltaub’s charming romance “While You Were Sleeping” and Irwin Winkler’s cybercrime thriller “The Net” in 1995. The following year, she’d star in rom-com “Two If By Sea,” legal drama “A Time to Kill,” and historical novel adaption “In Love and War.” Of course, the future two-time Academy Award nominee (one time winner) was just getting started.

I have to admit, although I am a big fan of Kim Ki-duk’s films, his latest efforts have not satisfied me at all. After the trouble he had with “Moebius,” he has toned down, to the point that his films have lost the shocking element that made them so special. “The Net,” however, seems like an effort to return to his roots, although not fully realized.
