Spooky little ghost...
barnthebarn27 May 2008
'Little Ghost' is a sweet children's film from the Full Moon studios. Director Shayne wrote, directed and featured briefly in cult family film 'Purple People Eater' and in many ways this is similar with its style of humour, acting and general presentation. Both Jameson Baltes as Kevin and Kristina Wayborn as Christine (the little ghost of the title) are pretty good. Unfortunately - and for no logical reason - we are given the story via a narrative of Kevin as a twenty something year old man. This is pointless as it merely disjoints the film and also irrelevant as this older Kevin has no real role in the story. Filmed at Castel Studios in Romania the castle is like something from a bewitching Disney animated movie of the 1950s and the entire film brims with beauty. The music, though quite nice, seems to have been added a little blindly often out of tone with the drama on screen. Acclaimed actress Sally Kirkland has a small role and adds a touch of glamour to what is a very entertaining and silly film.

A film made on a "little" budget which is still great big fun!
inkblot1114 July 2014
Kevin is one sad 12 year old. First, his actress mother has a new boyfriend, who the young lad doesn't like. Then, he has to leave his home, his friends, and such comforts as "fast food joints" and follow his mama to the European country of Sylvania. That's where an old castle is going to be turned into a "spa" by mommy and beau. Also making the trip is an assistant to the couple, a woman who may have eyes on the "boyfriend", too. When they get to the castle, Kevin is utterly bored until, lo and behold, a ghost appears. Its the spirit of a little girl from the Middle Ages and she is haunting the place in hopes of scaring visitors away, for she doesn't want the building to change. At first, Kev is a bit afraid, as she pops in and out at whim. But, soon, they are fast friends. As Kevin tells her more about his mom's suitor and the man himself has plans to knock down precious parts of the castle and grounds, the little ghost helps upset the venture. One day, she wraps a garden hose around the beau, which acts like a cobra and spits water into the man's face. Now, that's entertainment! Another time, vegetables and fruits are thrown at the gentleman, covering him in juice. Will Kevin and the ghost succeed in driving everyone back to the States? This fun family flick was made on a budget but still has plenty of great big fun for all. There are no known actors, except Sally Kirkland in a brief role. But, the castle and gardens are very beautiful and the magical antics will make the audience laugh. So, fork over a little money and find Little Ghost. Your family will like it.

Funny Entertainment for Children (and Adults)
claudio_carvalho1 August 2016
The successful and wealthy TV actress Christine (Kristina Wayborn) moves from Los Angeles to a small town in Romania with her son Kevin (Jameson Baltes), her fiancé Tony (James Fitzpatrick) and her assistant Joanne (Laura Bruneau) to buy an old castle and construct a SPA following Tony's advice. Kevin does not like Tony and misses his friends that were left behind, but befriends the castle administrator Pavel (Luc Leestemaker). Soon Kevin encounters the ghost Sofia (Trishalee Hardy), who takes care of the castle that belonged to her family, and they become best friends. They discover that Tony has a love affair with Joanne and they are spending the money of Christine. Further, Sofia is getting weaker and weaker with the destruction of the castle. Now their only hope is to summon Sofia's mother (Sally Kirkland) to help her daughter to save the castle, but the spell is not working. Will Sofia vanish and the castle be totally destructed?

"Little Ghost" is a family entertainment very funny for children (and adults). The story of friendship is predictable but sweet and Jameson Baltes and Trishalee Hardy show a great chemistry and seem to have good-time. The ham villain James Fitzpatrick is silly but also hilarious. My vote is seven.

OK for the smaller kids; adults' minds will wander.
Hermit C-24 January 2000
This lightweight childrens' movie takes place in Romania, where a young boy (Jameson Baltes) unhappily moves to an ancient castle with his mom and no-good stepdad (Kristina Wayborn and James Fitzpatrick), who plan to open a health spa there. Trouble is, the place is haunted, and the cute little ghost (Trishalee Hardy) that the young man befriends has her own reasons for not wanting her home disturbed. This is a movie for the younger kids, without any frightening scenes. Parents and other adults watching it with children may find their minds wandering, though.

A two for one deal! Excellent!

Okay, I have to admit that had I not had two children that are 5 & 7, that I probably would not have rented this cute little film. We mostly spend out time out on the water surfing, wake-boarding, etc. We very rarely are ever in front of a TV set. However, every so often we will have a day of rest or bad weather, so this was one of those dreary days. We rented this movie for a dollar and we were pleasantly surprised. The scenery was great. the gags and the physical jokes were great. My kids were on the ground rolling and laughing their hearts out when the main man got plastered with the tomatoes. I personally felt that the scenes with the main woman and the main man were also very charming and funny. i wish there were more of these types of movies for families to watch together.

Wonderful time!

Cheap and cheesy Casper copy
Leofwine_draca4 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
LITTLE GHOST is a cheap fantasy comedy, financed in America and shot in Romania. It's an often inept and laughable little film but nonetheless one which still raises a wry smile or two thanks to the sheer low budget effort that's gone into the film's making. It feels very much like a spin on CASPER albeit made on about a zillionth of the budget. I was amused to note that Full Moon Entertainment served as one of the production companies involved in this mess.

The story is about a kid and his mother, who works as an actress and randomly decides to buy an old castle in Romania and move the family there. The family is also saddled with the mother's fiancé, a greasy Rob Lowe lookalike who as the movie's villain is the butt of many of the jokes. The lonely kid soon strikes up a friendship with an old-time ghost girl who agrees to help him reveal the truth to his mother about the machinations of the evil fiancé. However this takes a long time and incorporates fake seances and the like.

Some of the slapstick gags are mildly amusing while others are fairly stupid. The special effects are limited to levitating objects and the occasion scene of the ghost girl dissolving into random pixels. It's badly acted throughout and made with the minimum of talent, but it's far from the worst kid's film you'll watch. I was amused to note that some of the main cast in this never worked again after its release.

Nice story...
noir_code10 May 2010
First, I wanna say this film was great. I saw LITTLE GHOST when I was 13 on television, just 10 years ago. I'm from Indonesia and now 23, so it was rare to see this movie. About this movie I never forget the scene between Kevin & Sofia dance together. It's so sweet. Even I forget about the tittle, but I always remember about that scene. Then I founded the tittle 2 days ago. I'm so happy.

Maybe some people will not like it because it "cult" film. The computer graphic are really bad. CASPER (1995) more better than this film who made in 1997. But the story is interesting and good for kids. I really miss this film and I hope I will find this film. In Indonesia maybe difficult to search this film on DVD or VCD. Seems hopeless, but I don't care and I don't give up. One day I will watch this movie again, just be patient. I really envy with you who can rent or watch this movie every time.

Kind of Hokey but cute! ~!
Roxburyfunny119 June 2004
Literally a kids film I'm 20 and i thought its cute and would be great to put on for the kids who just want a cute movie to enjoy. The to kids are probably do the best acting in the movie. Good story line and great filming location. I just wish though that they would of have a little better acting for the adults and less cheese. Definitely less cheese. It was pretty funny though but it was also your typical storyline is guy is in love with the best friend but Spiritual Advisor now that was originial and i don't mean that sarcastically. My mom picked this up cause she thought it looked cute and it did this is a baby-sitter movie or a family movie. Recommended for the baby-sitter in a rush or doesn't know what else to get! ~!

woow!

Just wow! I was tricked to watch this movie because of its high IMDb rating, nothing more. I reckon one-sentence positive reviews of the movie doesn't help anyone, so i decided to write a review to balance things out and give a fair warning to the possible viewers (assuming you can find this somewhere on the internet or cable).

Simply this is a TV movie with low budget, bad acting, cheap effects, poor scriptwriting and childish dialogue (plus the narrative). There is nothing interesting, original or crafty in it. It falls short in many levels, even considering the target group is 4-6 age group.

The reason behind the higher rating is presumably the accumulated voting from people who watched this piece of crap when they were kids. I can see why someone would like certain types of movies when they are young, but this doesn't justify a 10 voting.

I understand IMDb is more of a popularity contest rather than a film critic website, but it sometimes misleads people into watching low quality movies such as this one. I would suggest you watch this film (in youtube maybe?) and give it a fair vote to set things straight.
