Silly Brad Armstrong sci-fi feature
lor_2 February 2017
Voyeurs can get something out of ogling the ladies in Brad Armstrong's "Cybersex", shot over 20 years ago before the actor-turned-director hit his stride, but his treatment of a potentially interesting subject is poor. In terms of his overall career, I would classify this as juvenalia, perhaps promising but not ready for prime time.

The point seems to be (and only the Vivid Video brass would know for sure) to fashion a vehicle for star Crystal Gold. She's a statuesque beauty, for whom the casting as a cyborg is as effective as that decision to make Arnold Schwarzenegger "The Terminator", maximizing his impact on screen while hiding his obvious shortcomings (e.g., any acting ability).

The story line in which she is embedded does not bear close scrutiny, as Brad fumbles his way through stock sci-fi set-ups reminiscent of 1950s B pictures, only poorly realized by porno actors. He was years away from graduating to big, big Wicked budgets for his super-productions, so the lameness of the sets and SPFX here is glaring.

Anna Malle is oddly cast as a lab technician, while Jessica James provides some respite from the top-heavy Crystal in a fantasy sequence. Central casting male brigade strangely includes Bobby Vitale in a NonSex assignment, wasting a perfectly good dick.

I'm fixing the sloppy IMDb credits right now, as whoever submitted this listing attributed this feature to Wicked Pictures, rather than the Vivid production, reissued on that company's Wave label as a DVD. Brad's frequent collaborator Greg Steelberg is listed as a director, but he did not receive a screen credit.
