...And possibly under their nose.

Warning: Spoilers
Under the direction of "One shot" William Beaudine, this fast moving newspaper crime drama (with moments of romantic comedy) moves at a speedy pace and gets the job done in providing enough action in a short period of time. Rival reporters Robert Lowery and Annabel Shaw both want the scoop of who is the head rackateer behind a ring to defraud veterans from housing. Of course, they are secretly attracted to each other which adds all sorts of complications into their friendly feud. Joining the two are veteran character actors Frank Ferguson and Charles Evans as their boss and her wealthy father. The dialog is crisp and tight and the outcome surprising. In a B grade thriller like this, who could ask for anything more

Nothing new under PRC sky...

Warning: Spoilers
The usual Poverty Row Corporation stuff. I have already seen tons of this kind of product. Billy - one shot - Beaudine is although always interesting to follow, as far as his films will remain B - or Z - grade and not charmless, if you may find some interest in them. But on the condition to watch these features only from time to time, and with not the same look as for a grade A picture. The same thing to look for a prize fighting heavyweight world championship, and besides to watch a local light weight competition...

I guess the both are worth. But only different, especially about the atmosphere.

This William Beaudine film may let you fall asleep or looking for your newspaper, only to fight boredom. If you're not a movie buff as I am, of course. As usual, as I expected, Long Horn has told it for you in the plot line above. So I won't repeat.

The routine. Just routine. But a rare gem. That's the most important.
