Along with 1971's Pink-In, the most pointless Pink Panther cartoon
TheLittleSongbird21 November 2014
Pinkologist is not all bad, the music is as catchy and energetic as ever(in the recycled material), both the classic theme tune and the incidental scoring, the Little Man is quite touching here, Pinky is predictably likable with good interplay between the two and it was nice to see Rock A Bye Pinky, The Pink Blueprint and Pink Posies used. The problem though is that nothing interesting is done with them, the story is just an excuse to string along together recycled material and add a plot-line that is high on predictability(especially the ending) and with a run-out-of-ideas feel. The three cartoons themselves are fine, they are actually funny and well-animated, unfortunately the animation in the non-recycled is flat in colour and comparatively simplistic in drawing while Pinkologist outside of the recycled material is almost humourless and drawn out and the music in the non-recycled material lacks their vibrant orchestration and rhythmic energy. In conclusion, Pinkologist is one of the two pointless Pink Panther cartoons, the other being 1971's Pink-In(the one misfire in the 1971 batch). If you've not seen the older recycled material prior to watching Pinkologist you will get some enjoyment but if you have then you'll find Pinkologist very little more than a completely unnecessary copy-and-paste-up. 4/10 Bethany Cox

Another Pink Panther paste-up job
jan-wiberg11 July 2004
A very worried short, pointy-nosed man goes to a psychiatrist. Beginning with his infantry and childhood, he finally gets to tell about a pink panther that turns up everywhere he goes and causes trouble. We see scenes from Rock-A-Bye Pinky (1966), The Pink Blueprint (1966) and Pink Posies (1967).

Along with the earlier Pink-In (1971), this is a needless paste-up job with a predictable and silly punch line. It's sad to see animators, short on ideas, recycle old material. At least the old scenes are long enough to provide some enjoyment, at least if you haven't seen the original cartoons.

Basically the same as Pink-In, but with worse animation

Warning: Spoilers
After 1975 Depatie-Freleng Enterprises seemed to run out of ideas, each time the short films had less meaning and took more surreal routes and plots, the fact that the animation faded more and more did not help, but after 1978 the series went downhill, with very bad shorts, boring, unfunny and entirely made for greed, Animation became more rudimentary and minimalist than it already was, and it doesn't help that Friz Freleng and David H Depatie were in Production, they couldn't do anything.

I hate Clip Shows, they were never a good way to keep a series alive, they just used to be Filler episodes in their Respective series, although there were some good ones in the past, Jerry's Diary and Smarty Cat are an example, and that's because They were not entirely based on being Clip shows, but they showed a plot while the Images were processed, but not here, they are simply Repetitions of good cartoons from the past.

The Plot could have led to Something Mildly Funny if handled well, White Man goes to the Psychologist and tries to take out his Traumas with the Panther, but The Pink Panther Itself was the one who was right there listening to the Therapy, maybe as another Critic said, if they had tricking the White Man into doing things that would supposedly help him would have been an easy way forward, but it wasn't, they show a lot of Stock Images with filters applied and Music Changed, this time really bad, with little enthusiasm and fun, even Walter Greene was a better composer, but continuing, Finally all this ends with the Panther Coming Out of a Box and that's it!, one of the most disappointing endings that this good series could have given us.

There is not much to say about it, maybe if the plot had been handled better and they had left the winged clip shows (Or even using some could have helped to progress the plot, but of course, without abusing them) it could have been better, really I don't recommend watching them unless you want to remember some Good Moments from the series (With Worst Music and Filters applied by the way).

Just a clip show..

Warning: Spoilers
Now I love pink panther but this short? Disappointing. This episode has the Little Man, seeing a therapist or psychiatrist. Now- I LOVED THIS IDEA. It could've had Pink Panther dressed up as a psychologist, and made the Little Man do all sorts of weird wacky stuff, with the belief it'll help the Little Man. Causing the Little Man to getting badly hurt. Leading him too.. Snap. But no. It just HAD TO REUSE CLIPS FROM OTHER SHORTS. Shorts being Rock a bye Pinky, The Pink Blue Print, and Pink Posies. I thought it was kinda dull. I would recommend just watching the three other shorts it had, and skip this boring disappointment.

Another best-of Pink Panther compilation.
OllieSuave-00711 January 2017
This is like another one of those best-of compilations, but it's presented in a neat way. The pointy-nosed man finally let the Pink Panther get the best of him and has went to see a psychiatrist for help. There, we are shown clips from various Pink Panther cartoons, where he drives the man crazy.

It's funny stuff, as it shows the Pink Panther getting the upper hand and you get to see some end-results from the pointy-nosed man's point of view. You get a few chuckles out of this one - not much. But, it's not a bad cartoon overall.

Grade B-

When a money-mad, cash-crazed, profit-pilfering . . .
pixrox129 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
. . . movie studio attempts to hoodwink, bamboozle and rip off the paying public with an egregious "Cheater Episode" which is mostly recycled stale, blase, old, tired film footage re-released under the bogus guise of something new, a justly outraged citizenry owes it to themselves to exact revenge for this Hideous Assault against Humanity. Such pernicious pillaging of America's Picture Shows surely violates the United Nations Charter, dangerously defiling the Core Principles of Western Civilization. Cheater episode titles must be consigned to the Dustbin of History, never said or written outright where they can besmirch mortal ear or eye. The rule for most people is that you "only go around once," but studios that regularly churn out cheaters are burping up their leftovers in the Public Square again and again. They should be incarcerated for littering, pollution and contamination via toxic waste, with the key to their padded cell melted down to make tin foil caps.
