Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A man frequently beats children, including Remi, with either a whip or riding crop, or a cane; it's hard to tell exactly what it is. He forces them to work for money, and if they are short, he starves and beats them.
  • If one child escapes from the antagonist's home, he claims he will punish all of the others severely.
  • A man grabs Remi and locks her in a room for ransom. He tosses her around and is not afraid of hurting her.
  • Remi's 'stepfather' is highly abusive towards her and sells her to a child slaver. He is abusive to his wife, as well.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Remi, Vitalis, and the travelling animals are attacked by wolves. Two of the dogs are killed in a bloody fashion. This is a very sad scene.
  • Vitalis dies, leaving Remi to wander Paris alone. The way in which he goes is very heart wrenching, as his spirit rejoins his deceased dogs.
  • Vitalis and Remi's cart is burned to the ground. They lived in that cart, and were left 'homeless.' In addition, they were framed by an arsonist, and no one wants to trust them.
