A Unique Feature
aimless-4617 February 2009
This 47 minute film is included as a special feature on the Lion's Gate DVD of "The Arizona Raiders"; under a different name: "Outdoor Adventures".

Loren Grey (Zane's son) does a short but very uncomfortable looking (he looks like he is wishing he was any place but in front of the camera) introduction for his father's film about his fishing expedition and adventures in the South Seas. Zane Grey was not just a writer but was quite an adventurer. Basically it is the type of footage you might bring home to document a very expensive vacation. It is not particularly well organized but does constitute an amazing personal travelogue.

The style reminded me of the Frank Buck films (such as "Fang and Claw"). Very interesting film footage of a part of the world that had changed very little over the past two centuries yet would be totally transformed a few years later by World War II.
