Confused...
filmfreak-513 July 2003
I saw this film first thinking "oh no, not another dogme trip" (this may sound strange since dogme is so popular these days, but here in Denmark we are quite a few now who are sick and tired of the concept!), but I was happily surprised when realizing that Gislasson actually and obviously are very inspired by Oliver Stone's masterful style especially from films like 'Natural Born Killers' and 'U-Turn', and to a degree also 'Nixon'.

The film itself is a pretty ok roadmovie, which doesn't quite live up to ones expections but doesn't quite fall through either. The plot is somewhat cliche, but it's quite well followed up..

And then - and this might be because I'm from Denmark - I'm tired of danish actors terrible accent. You can tell from miles away that they're danish and it makes my toes crumble. This might be the reason why danish actors in foreign languaged films always play...yes, danes... An exception here ofcourse is Nikolaj Coster Waldau ('Black Hawk Down', and others..) who actually have managed to drop the accent..

Anyways, all in all a pretty good film, but I'm not sure it will be one of those I will be seing numerous films (like eg. 'Natural Born Killers', like before mentioned)

A pretty decent roadmovie
Rodwac21 January 2002
In the wake of the popular dogme95 movement this movie delivers a refreshing roadmovie shot on location in the western US. It sets itself apart from recent danish movies by its dark subject matter and bleak portrayal of a spoiled danish girl and her decent into the dark heart of America.

It looks like a dogme movie with handheld DV shots and improvisations but it doesn't have the disarming humour that the most popular dogme95 movies do.

There is no relief in POV. No hope. No disarming humour. It's actually quite refreshing...No, really it is. Go see it.

New concept

P.O.V. is not a movie to be seen as such, but as a new experience! In fact only "works" if seen in a DVD player. The interactivity, possibility to chose the character's dramatic arch, the plot changes because of your choices, makes of P.O.V. more a game than a movie.

The story is cliché, but the idea of let the audience chose what it's going to happened next, is rather good. Again, only if seen on a DVD player-

The script is well written for the purpose. After three of four times we see the the movie and save a different end each time, the game starts to become interesting.

I think is worth trying.
