If you're looking to embark on seeing Chuck's later TV movie career, The President's Man is a fine place to start.
tarbosh2200017 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Joshua McCord (Chuck) is just a simple college professor who teaches the ancient art of Bushido to young punks who look like Frankie Muniz. Or is he? McCord's secret, other life is that he's THE PRESIDENT'S MAN - a highly-trained Delta Force/Special Ops-style commando warrior who has as his special mission to get the President and his wife out of trouble.

When a Brazilian terrorist group named the People's Liberation Army kidnaps Mrs. President and demands 100 million dollars and high-powered weaponry, McCord swoops in to save the day. But he worries that he's getting on in years and that he may have to pass the torch to a President's Man, Jr. After an extensive search, he and his partner Que (Tung) settle upon Sgt. Deke Slater (Neal), a cocky badass/hunk. McCord then seeks the advice of his aging mentor, George Williams (Whitman), and then the extensive training begins.

It turns out they're going to need it, because McCord's old nemesis from 'Nam, General Vinh Tran (Oh), is now in South America and looking to get into the drug trade. The baddies have kidnapped a scientist and his family and is forcing the poor guy to make nuclear weapons for them. But Slater, Que, and McCord are on the case...can they rescue the family and at the same time settle the score with Tran? Find out today!

If you read our review for Logan's War: Bound By Honor (1998), a lot of what we said in that review applies here, because that movie and this are both quite similar. They're both late 90's/early 2000's TV movies produced by Norris Brothers Entertainment for the CBS network and shot in and around the Dallas, Texas area. They seem like extended versions of the classic Walker: Texas Ranger TV show. What might surprise you, however, is how entertaining these movies are. They're not nearly as "bad" as some wags out there say they are. They provide good action, amusing dialogue, and are Chuck all the way. They're even better than some of Chuck's earlier output.

How The President's man differs from Logan's War is that Presiden't Man is more James Bond-esque. Joshua McCord is like a Texas-Fried Bond who gets into a lot of high-flying adventures. There's even a horn-based musical sting that might sound a little familiar. There's even a special room in Chuck's compound for high-tech anti-baddie gadgetry.

There are not one but two extensive training montages as McCord and Que show their new recruit the ropes. The training sequences are set to patriotic country music, as you might expect. More than just Martial Arts and target shooting, there is an alarming amount of gymnastics involved in becoming the President's Man. It was almost Gymkata-esque. To be fair, it does kind of pay off during the Prerequisite Torture scene with Slater, but still, at times we weren't sure if they were training a soldier or Mary Lou Retton.

Maybe we're biased because we saw Logan's War first, but Dylan Neal is no Eddie Cibrian. I know that's controversial and might ruffle some feathers, but, there, I said it. And I'm not ashamed. He's very similar, however, and the plot idea where Chuck trains a new recruit who looks like a soap opera hunk will invariably remind you of Logan's War.

Some further noteworthy aspects of The President's Man include the fact that evil Vietnamese generals have teamed up with Colombian drug lords, and some of the Colombian drug baddies know "Colombian Kung Fu", a funny form of Martial Arts. For a TV movie, there are more neck snaps than you might expect. Also there seems to be a lot of stock footage interpolated into the film in entertaining ways, and the sounds that arise when someone gets punched or kicked sound like Alex Van Halen's snare drum hits. In other words, they're extraordinarily loud.

If you're looking to embark on seeing Chuck's later TV movie career, The President's Man is a fine place to start. Logan's War would do the trick as well. It's recommended for people that have explored every other aspect of Chuck's career and are seeking out more of his output. There's also a sequel, so watch out for that.

Run-of-the-mill and low-budgeted Chuck Norris movie with lots of action
ma-cortes24 February 2023
A U. S. president's highly classified secret agent who thinks it's time for him to retire must find a fearless replacement to take over his extremely dangerous military missions . He's Joshua McCord (Chuck Norris) who is both a teacher and a government operative who answers to the President (Ralph Waite) . McCord has a daughter who is liaison with the President. When the first lady (Marla Adams) is kidnapped by a mysterious band of terrorists, he goes into action and subsequently finds himself thrust head to the most dangerous assignments . Joshua chooses as his stand-in to Deke Slater (Dylan Neal) , a soldier who was wrongfully convicted of insubordination and assaulting his commanding officer. Joshua and Que (Jennifer Tung) proceed to see if he has what it takes . But then they get a mission which has personal implications for Joshua. So they go. No mission is impossible.

This is a Chuck Norris recital , containing action-packed , thrills , chases , fights , pursuits and lots violence . Chuck Norris demonstrates still his qualities as an action hero on the fights against the largest-than-life murderous by means of punches , slaps , kicks , bounds and more leaps . Here Norris needs to find a replacement , and finally finds him , Dylan Neal, subsequently training him in all kinds of risked tests ; the problem is that the chosen one is a rebel, a troublesome soldier and then Chuck considers that he couldn't be the best option to succeed him. Chuck Norris ordinary acting as Joshua McCord , an aging secret service operative who needs to train a younger man in his field and becomes involved into a no-holds-barred, kick-butt action mission. This action-thriller is an inferior Norris film , in fact Norris was far from his best period with hits , such as : ¨The Octagon¨ , ¨An eye for an eye¨ , ¨Forced vengeance¨ , ¨Lone Wolf MacQuade¨, ¨US Invasion¨, among others . Chuck Norris is familiar to fans worldwide as the star of action films such as Hitman (1991), Delta Force (1986) and Delta Force 2 (1990) , Missing in Action (1984) and its sequels, Firewalker (1986) and Sidekicks ( (1992). And he eventually working in television where has played the same character , Cordell Walker, in three different television series: Walker, Texas Ranger (1993), Martial Law (1998) and Sons of Thunder (1999). Being compellingly accompanied by Dylan Neal as the choosen soldier who results to be convicted of murder and unwilling to follow Joshua's instructions, which makes think he might not be the one and the beautiful Chinese/American Jennifer Tung as Joshua's daughter and main liaison with the President of the United States . Adding other familiar secondaries , such as Ralph Waite , Jonathan Nichols , Stuart Whitman and Soon-Tek Oh who also appeared in ¨Missing in action II¨as an evil torturer . In fact, this The President's Man is a kind of sequel to ¨Missing in action 3¨ in which Braddock returned looking for his disappeared Vietnam wife and kid after downfall Saigon and has even somewhat echoes bare-chested electro-shock torture scene in 1988's "Missing in Action III".

The motion picture was ordinarily but professionally directed by Eric Norris and Michael Preece . Eric Norris is Chuck'son and usual stunt , while Michael Preece is a craftsman who usually works in television making episodes of famous series, such as : 7th Heaven, Baywatch , Falcon Crest, Renegade, Dallas , The Young Riders, B. J. and the Bear , Mike Hammer , T. J. Hooker , Flamingo Road, Barnaby Jones , Shirley , The Hulk and Walker Texas Rangers , among others . Rating : 4.5/10 . Average , only for Chuck Norris fans.

Oh no Chucky what have you done here
sutcal16 July 2001
Well. I remember seeing MIA with Chuck...back in the early 80's that was Action (but if you see it now it is not the best :))). Then I saw this attempt at a movie and thought its actually worse than MIA. I am not sure what has made Chuck Norris such a long lived success in the USA. He has never really made a "blockbuster" box office smash like Van Damme or Seagal. Yet he is a likeable actor and seems to have a legend of fans out there.

This movie however is pretty poor. The stunts are choreographed and noticable. The story line is week (it looks like a tv show pilot). Some of the special effects are atrocious (you just have to see the parachuting out of a stealth bomber). Apart from the fact that you would not be able to do that, take a look at the cartoon image coming out of the plane..its really B grade in so many ways (even C grade).

Its a poor telemovie and not worth the effort of watching, so do yourself a favour and don't make the mistake that I did.

Chuck Norris at his best: teacher, moral adviser and patriot!

The President's Man is kind of special soldier who carries out missions that nobody else can do and he follows orders directly from the President of the United States of America! Some people would find it uninteresting,- but I'll tell you- It is terribly watchable and funny!

Chuck Norris is kind of a CIA special agent or Delta Force.

There is an exotic character played by American actress Jennifer Tung (Who was Miss Chinatown in San Francisco!) She is the daughter of Chuck Norris and a Vietnamese woman who married the American hero.

If you are a fan of Chuck Norris ( And I am a proud one) you must watch this!

Hilarious
heywood1004 May 2003
It was difficult to decide a mark for this one. In the end I chose 1/10, because as a piece of film art it's atrocious, the lowest of the low, probably the most horrendously bad film I've ever seen. But parodoxically that makes it so damn funny that it could also be quite reasonably given a 10/10 rating for pure entertainment value. It really does have to be seen to be believed.

The acting? Wooden. Really wooden. Chuck Norris' expression doesn't change once during the entire film. The special effects? Awful. A lot of the time it looks like the actors are performing in front of a blue wall with another films effects projected behind them. The story? Fantastically funny. The most obvious and cliched script ever committed to screen and all the better for it. The slow motion action sequences? Perfect - in a really bad way.

Normally I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on a film bad enough to get a 1/10, but this really is essential viewing - it's a masterclass in how not to make a film, but also brilliant entertainment at the same time. If I could've given it nought I would have. And for that alone, you should watch it.

sky diving from an F117 stealth fighter !
rmolloy-128 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
this film has to be seen to be believed, if only to see the scene where chuck skydives out of the bomb bay of an F117 stealth fighter. i dare anybody to watch that scene without rolling around on the carpet with a stitch in your gut from laughing.

i have to repeat that ! skydiving from an F117 stealth fighter ! you have to see that little dot shoot across the screen !

also very commendable of chuck to take on the cartel soldiers in hand to hand fights, and to give them prior warning as well.

question ! why is chuck Norris not making more movies now? we need more Norris film, there is nothing better that seeing one of these little gems on TV in the wee hours of the morning.

Kill the sound, make your own dialogues!
TheDemonLord11 January 2001
Me and my friends saw this movie and Resurrection on one night. One positive thing; kill the sound, insert your own dialogue! The rest of the movie is totally stupid, uninventive, boring, badly acted (did they act?).

The stunts are cheap and silly. For instance check the altitude meter while they are in the stealth bomber, it's at 0 elevation. The bad guys can pack enough weapons grade plutonium for 6 nuclear weapons in a single suitcase, which they carry by hand. You need about 13 kg, ie about 28 pounds, for a small device, times 6 etc. Plutonium, besides being highly radioactive is extremely toxic as well. Nice move that they blow it up in the end with C7. C7; "yeah, it's makes C4 look like candy" oh come on!!!

The movie spans about half a year or so, during which time the main character Chucky is reading the same book (Bushido, art of the Samurai). Half a year to read a single book, well, it tells you something about good old Chuck.

Beavis and Buthead might enjoy this, but I think an average episode of the A-Team is better.

God save America
Maziun26 December 2014
Chuck Norris is a true one man's army. Every time president of USA is in danger he will save the day. Forget FBI , CIA , army or Delta Force. All you need is Chuck ! After all he can sky dive from F117 stealth fighter ! He's also a mentor , teacher and a philosopher. A true renaissance man ! This was intended as a TV series pilot. There are few places where the cliffhanger appears , so the TV station could put some commercials in it. The special effects are definitely NOT special. Acting ? Was there any in this movie ? Script ? The most cliché and obvious as you could imagine.

It's scary to think that this piece of crap was Successful enough , so they made a sequel to it ! I guess Chuck's fans are very loyal. I give it 1/10.

Norris needs to rest!
gazineo-112 September 2001
Another violent and simple minded Chuck Norris film where he plays a kind of super special secret agent who is always in charge with hard and almost impossible mission on United States service.Feeling old, he seeks for a successor and starts to training a young and restless Marine Officer. The movie is just a series of fights and explosions with no intelligence all the way. This movie takes us to a clear conclusion: the nowdays actions movies are a tired and boring genre always impregnated with a doubtful and stupid ideology. Time to change, folks! I give this a 3 (three).

Classic Norris
iadelong18 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I don't see how you could not like this movie... I mean, listen to this: at the beginning of the movie, Norris has to go to Brazil to rescue the first lady. Logically, he has to take a stealth bomber from which he parachutes from at somewhere around Mach-1. Norris then proceeds to land on the roof, pull some outrageous swing-through-the-window bull****, roundhouse kick everyone in the chest, and parachute to the ocean where he drops off the first lady to a waiting seals team and continues to parachute off into the distance.

Jump ahead half an hour and some Asian chick is punching the new recruit in the crotch as he does pull ups. awesome.

Jump ahead an hour and a defenseless girl gets knocked the **** out with a sucker punch to the face.

Jump ahead to the very end and a kidnapped scientist makes a nuclear bomb out of plutonium, a pile of metal, and a screwdriver.

Overall, this is a hilariously terrible movie.

Save yourselves from Chuck Norris's recycled story lines!
charliepisces30 November 2002
If you have seen even one of Norris's former horror shows AKA films, or his disgusting series "Walker, Texas Ranger" than you have seen this film's plot already, and it's outcome. It even has the same lame sound track that tries to inspire people in the American way. All it inspired me to do was change the channel. I will never understand how these films get funded and produced. I know dead people that can write better scripts! Please, warn all you know about this mess! Avoid it at all costs, and for god's sake, keep the children away from it!!!

Chuck Norris shows that older guys can still pack some muscle in this kickass action flick.
rockoforza1 January 2013
This made for TV movie gives Chuck Norris fans some nostalgic scenes from the past combined with a promise for a new series to come. Norris plays Joshua McCord, a college professor who moonlights as the president's man in emergencies. The movie leads off with some far-fetched, but entertaining, intrigue in rescuing the First Lady from terrorists. But the real story revolves around Chuck's desire to train a young agent to work with him. Dylan Neal stars as Deke Slater, a spec ops soldier falsely accused and imprisoned. A hard charger with an attitude, Slater is targeted for death in the brig, and winds up having to slay one of his attackers to survive. Chuck steps in and recruits the angry Slater to work with him. In a number of well done scenes we see the older Norris training, lifting weights and sparring with the younger man. Its great watching Chuck, at 60 years old, hold his own with the 31 year old Neal. When we see him bare-chested, Norris can still show off the muscular build that made him a Hollywood legend. Slowly but surely, Slater loses his attitude and comes to see Chuck almost as a father figure. Together they become a lethal team of silent assassins and are ready for whatever mission the president assigns them. That mission comes fast enough when American women and children are captured by terrorists in Colombia. Chuck learns that General Tran, an old enemy from Viet Nam, is behind the plot. With this extra incentive, Deke and Chuck parachute into the jungle to rescue the hostages. As soon as they land, the action heats up. As they infiltrate the terrorists' camp, Chuck uses some old school martial arts moves to break the neck of an unwary sentry. As soon as we hear the "snap," we see Chuck give a little grin, as if to say "see – the old man's still got it!" Less than a minute later, Deke – whose own shirtless scenes revealed a chiseled physique – uses pure muscle to likewise twist a bad guy's head with a satisfying crack. Throughout the action, it's as if they are in competition to see who can rack up the biggest body count. As they close in on Gen. Tran, the camera alternates between each man as they employ different techniques to silently kill a dozen terrorists. This movie has some fun throwbacks to Chuck's earlier movies. It's no surprise that Chuck has a final showdown with General Tran (played by Soon-Tek Oh, whom Norris fans will recognize from previous run ins with Chuck in his earlier Viet Nam films,) and it's especially satisfying to see Chuck finish him off with the same signature "hangman" hold he used to break Bill "Superfoot" Wallace's neck in "Force of One." The end of the movie has Deke Slater becoming a fully fledged member of Chuck's team with the promise of more missions to come. For anybody that admires an older guy's ability to play an action hero, Norris is your man, while Dylan Neal makes an impressive debut as an up and coming movie badass.

A new pilot?
Ernst-210 April 2000
A better than fair adventure film, but about halfway through I had the feeling I was watching the pilot for a new TV series. This would not be too unfortunate since it beats much of what is already being seen.

Great movie!
Keno2718 November 2004
Don't listen to all the trumped up bad reviews for this film! I'm convinced they are mostly from Norris haters because he is a known Republican!

The film is great. It is better than the TV series Texas Ranger. It is just like a movie in the theaters except it has abrupt cuts to black where a commercial might be.

The film is a mix of the James Bond style movie with American military action films. It has humor and excitement and is just a fun romp. The main characters are pretty well conceived and are well acted.

If this had been a planned series, I'm sorry it never materialized.

It is a good family entertainment and could very well have been a film release. It is better than some of the latest Steven Seagal movies by far and has some good action scenes. 8 out of 10!

I just had to comment on this movie after catching it one late night up. One must wonder how features such as these get made. Poor effects, dismal script, terrible acting....i could go on but i'd be wasting my time. Good to see Chuck Norris not acting again. I cant think of a movie that relates to it to recommend because the whole thing is so cliched; there are millions of better films. 0 stars

redkiwi3 May 2003
Not satisfied with making bad Delta Force film after bad Delta Force film, Chuck Norris is now a pseudo Delta Force agent, employed directly by the president to be his secret operative, and needs to find his replacement for when he retires.

Bad and rather dull throughout, the final scene could have used some Indiana Jones spicing up ... when you meet your arch nemesis just shoot him rather than ending up in a martial arts bout!

No doubt intended to be the pilot for a TV series, I'll not bother watching it if so!

Typical Chuck Norris stuff
eshwarmail6 January 2017
Reviewed August 2011

Though have heard a lot about and seen a clip or two of the legendary action hero, never have seen a full movie of his. Now I have a six pack collection of Chuck Norris, decided to give this the first try.

But before we go any further into the artistic enlightenment or the emotional impact this film has to offer, let us dwell a bit on the hero himself. Since I come from the land of Rajnikath and Vijaykanth (Please do look up on youtube), I assume that I am programmed to get entertained by this. Well actually, I was. Yes, this is that kind of movie where it is that bad you'll have fun.

This is about a secret special forces soldier (Chuck Norris) unofficially designated to the President to carry out covert missions. He decides to call it a day and starts looking for his replacement and trains him after found.

From hereon, if someone asks you what a B-Movie is. Just pass this DVD and they'll understand without a word said. Coming to the performances, I don't quite understand if it was intentional or everyone were equally stupid, they smile after every dialog said. No matter the situation. The visual effects were done expertly using Macromedia Flash 5 or earlier versions. Not a single body count from the 'Good Guys' side and not a single body left alive from the 'Bad Guys'.

Though I didn't get to see as much as I expected of the legendary moves and stunts, I've got five more movies to look forward to.

Thought I was watching "Walker, Texas Ranger"
UnclGeorge19 October 2000
I was channel surfing and came across the stunning Dylan Neal-- shirtless, no less. Immediately I put down the remote and took in the view as I tried to follow what was going on (which I don't think would have been easy even if I'd watched from the beginning). Norris always looks the same, and always plays the same character (like John Wayne did), so his roles are indistinguishable from each other. This was no exception, as he gets to beat up several bad guys with martial arts... again. The most shocking thing I witnessed was the two stars deploying themselves out of the bottom of a stealth fighter. This was depicted by very poorly produced cartoon images emerging from the bottom of the aircraft. First off, I don't know much about parachuting, but I'd have to think that plane couldn't be going less than 200 miles an hour (and probably much more) so I doubt sane people would willingly jump from a hole in the belly of the jet. I believe their bodies would have been smushed against the fuselage in their attempt to propel themselves out with the mere force of gravity. And secondly, the "special effect" was not only laughable-- it positively reeked!

Recommended viewing only if you can't resist the sight of a gorgeous man with a gorgeous body (Neal, not Connors!).

old-fashioned
Cristi_Ciopron7 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is an old-fashioned movie, although the technology has a role: the satellite used to track the Columbian facility, otherwise there are '80s rock, a Vietnamese officer and memories of the Vietnamese war, fights in the Columbian forest …. The 1st scene is of Norris teaching about Bushido and the samurai's behavior. He has a daughter who's half Vietnamese. He meets again his Vietnamese enemy, the killer of his wife, in the Columbian forest; and maybe this unexpected encounter with an aged enemy is the decisive moment in the samurai's life that Norris was teaching about in the opening. The movie makes much of the training of the next man of the president, which is bland enough that even the few funny moments seem genuinely humorous. A president's man is assigned missions like rescuing the president's wife, or a congressman's daughter held hostage by a creepy cult, or a scientist kidnapped by the drugs cartel.

These assignments take the warrior in Rio, in Columbia, and even Vietnam is somewhat brought in the Columbian forest …. A silly script, lackluster and clumsy storytelling, and a bland role for Norris, here as a martial arts teacher, and what he has to do is look like a walking sphinx; and the story takes a very chaste view: sexless characters, no blooming romance, with the new trustee choosing the job, not, as one might of expected, an idyll with the Vietnamese liaison.

Like many of the '30s cowboys, like many of the '80s fighters, Norris wasn't an actor, but a showman. Fortunately, he doesn't try to act. So, if you enjoy his generic character, you will also enjoy his roles.

One may ask whether Norris didn't deserve a career's twilight more like Wayne's, i.e., more dignified. But did Bronson, or others, got one? This movie, with its crass pompous militarism, has been made for children. The fights are bloodless, the movie is enjoyable (if you need to see another movie with Norris, or are an unpretentious kid) and mostly mediocre; the dialogues, stilted and sometimes mindless, as when Norris attributes his disciple's indiscipline on his … survival instinct, when it was heroic impulsiveness.

I liked it for what it is, a modest unintelligent militarist show, a 3rd hand version of the Republican creed, the fights are exciting though ordinary.

Much better than I expected
jayce227923 February 2013
I feel I should comment on all of the negative reviews this title has gotten. You've got to remember this is a television production from 2000, which is pre-Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, Justified or The Walking Dead. If you take this into consideration, I thought the makers of The President's Man did a pretty good job. There are a lot of action and martial arts scenes, of a much more violent nature than you would expect from a late 20th century TV movie, and Chuck Norris does everything you expect of him. Although some scenes are a little oversimplified and at times don't paint a very credible image of the workings of the U.S. Army or a drug cartel, the movie kind of reminded me of a lower budget version of Delta Force 2. If you're a Chuck Norris fan I'd definitely give it a shot.

could be a TV show... from the 80's
SnoopyStyle16 August 2021
The First Lady has been kidnapped by Brazilian terrorists and the President refuses to negotiate with terrorists. He has one option, Josh McCord (Chuck Norris). Josh is an university professor in Dallas but secretly, he is the President's Man. Throughout America's history, the President has one man tasked with tackling its secret and most sensitive missions, and doing it with complete deniability for America. Josh is considering retirement and must pick a replacement. He chooses disgraced Sgt. Deke Slater who is imprisoned in Leavenworth.

This is a B-movie for TV. The premise has the potential to be a TV show. Every week, the President would give him a dangerous mission. The production is second tier TV show level. There are a few good stunts and lots of basic gun/hand-to-hand action. With the editing and the production, a lot of this screams old style 80's action. It doesn't help that Chuck is an older gentleman by then. The writing is worst which explains the constant need for new missions. Chuck is probably only comfortable in a fight. This is not a good one for acting or story. At its core, this movie has an interesting premise. In better hands, this would be a fun action TV show from the 80's.

Chuck Norris still rules!
RCF2315 November 2005
This is one of the best Made For TV action movies I have ever seen. It is not WB sugar coated and it is extremely violent. It is also better than a lot of the direct to DVD movies I rent. There is plenty of martial arts and gun battles for the average action fan and Chuck Norris does his thing. The first 15 minutes and the final 30 minutes are fantastic TV for Norris fans. The middle of the movie is fun as we watch Chuck teach his young protégé and then rescue him from an almost botched mission. It was also cool seeing Chuck square off against Soon Tek Oh, his enemy from Missing in Action II. Another great thing about this DVD is that it is enhanced for widescreen HDTVs, so you do not have to watch it in 4:3 standard or 4:3 expanded. To those people who rate this flick poorly, remember, this was a CBS TV movie with a limited budget. Please do not compare this to Chuck's theatrical releases like Delta Force or Lone Wolf McQuade. For an old dude, Chuck still rules.

The President's Man
coltras356 November 2022
Jonathon Chase (Chuck Norris) is the special operative the President of the United States turns to with the most sensitive and dangerous missions. So when the First Lady is kidnapped by ruthless terrorists it naturally falls to Jonathon to get her back. The mission is a success, but Jonathon feels that things didn't go as smoothly as he would have liked, and decides it is time to train a successor.

Chuck smashes through a window of a high rise window and the villain holding the First Lady hostage asks him who he is. Chuck replies "Room Service" and then proceeds to be beat him and stab him. A good start to a tongue-in-cheek and old-fashioned fun which is a mix of James Bond and Chuck's brand of high kicks. It's a TV movie, and not on the same level as his theatrical-released classics like Code of Silence/MIA, but still enjoyable. Chuck channels his quietly tough persona like an old pro and still got the moves.

Mr. Super Special Secret Agent
foolsquill1 January 2023
By the end of the 90s and 2000s the steam of the action heroes had started to run out (until Sylvester Stallone invigorated everyone's careers with the 'Expendables' franchise). Although Chuck Norris had a popular television series with 'Walker, Texas Ranger', his full length movies were also mostly television productions. 'The President's Man' is the best out of those. The movie is no way perfect. There are inconsistencies and plot holes, and the movie is bounded by the low budget and television production restraints. The story itself is quite interesting (there is a secret agent, who follows the President's direct order, but whose identity remains secret even for the President), but the screenplay follows the predictable path.

Chuck Norris stars as Joshua McCord: a typical stoic, a one-man-army type of hero. He wishes to retire and starts looking to his replacement. He finds a Delta Force sergeant Deke Slater (Dylan Neal), a soldier with an attitude who has been imprisoned for the insubordination. Slater is a guy who seems to follow his instincts (and heart) more than his brains, and McCord's task is to humble and prepare him for the upcoming missions. The main characters are nicely developed and with meaty enough backstories to care about them. Chuck Norris, Dylan Neal and Jennifer Tung form a cool trio of characters with great chemistry between them. Unfortunately villians are generic cardboard cut outs. Fight scenes and stunts are nice. In the finale the movie treats us with a proper stand-off like one proper martial arts movie should. The soundtrack is epic. It occasionally reminds the music from James Bond movies. There's nothing wrong with that - most of the super spy movies have scores that have similar compositions.

'The President's Man' is not very demanding, but sometimes it's just good to watch a simple action movie where good guys win with ease. A must see for any self respecting Chuck Norris fan. And you just have to respect that Chuck Norris was nearly 60 in this movie.
