Saban Films announced today the acquisition of worldwide rights to the upcoming comedy The 4:30 Movie, directed and written by Kevin Smith.
Set in the summer of 1986, The 4:30 Movie is a coming-of-age story about three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local multiplex. But when one of the guys also invites the girl of his dreams (Siena Agudong) to see the latest comedy, each of the teens will learn something serious about life and love before the credits roll.
Set in the mobile phoneless, social media-free era of the ’80s, Smith shot The 4:30 Movie at his Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey—the same movie theater he haunted every weekend as a teenager. Two years ago, Smith and his co-owners saved the century-old Atlantic Highlands bijou from demolition, renaming it after his podcast theater.

It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

Netflix gained a new competitor last month (sort of) when HBO Max and Discovery+ combined forces to create the confusingly-named Max. With its list of new releases for June 2023, however, Netflix doesn’t have too much to worry about.
This month is filled with some major Netflix original titles, not the least of which is The Witcher season 3 volume 1 on June 29. Though star Henry Cavill is set to leave the Polish folklore/video game adaptation in season 4, he remains very much entrenched as the titular Witcher in this next go-around. Other big TV hits include Manifest season 4 part 2 (June 2), Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources season 2 (June 9), and animated King Kong series Skull Island (June 22). That’s not even to mention the return of Black Mirror season 6. That still has yet to receive a release date but we have no doubt it will be properly epic once it arrives.

So far, new characters have been introduced, while one has reappeared after being seemingly killed off. But viewers are saddened to see that one familiar face hasn't returned for the new season.

Kip Moore is living to the fullest in his new song “Good Life,” his first new music since the deluxe version of his 2020 album Wild World.
“Good Life” marks a slight sonic departure for Moore, who worked with producer and co-writer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde) for the first time in his career. Some of Joyce’s more experimental rock-leaning influence is evident as Moore’s effects-laden vocals cruise along to a funky backbeat and sizzling lead guitar. “I’ve been crucified by a Baptist preacher/been face to...

Abu Dhabi, Oct 8 (Ians) The 21st match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (Ipl) season was a memorable one for Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rahul Tripathi.

ABC airs the last of the five “American Idol” episodes devoted to the audition stage of the competition on March 15. Another 15 would-be winners of season 18 will sing for the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — hoping to get one of those coveted tickets to Hollywood.
Which of these will number among the 150 contestants who make it to this next stage? At the end of a week in Hollywood, only 40 moved on to the next round which saw them whisked off to Hawaii at the end of January where they auditioned for judges again, this time in front of guests staying at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Honolulu.
Only half of these Top 40 acts made the cut. In turn, the Top 20 performed twice more for the judges: first in solos and then duets with celebrities. Just 14 of them were put through to the live shows, which begin in April.

As the show prepares to close its sixth and final season in February, Starz has announced Clifford “Method Man” Smith will be joining the “Power” prequel, “Power Book 2: Ghost,” starring opposite Mary J. Blige. The network also released a first look image of the rapper’s character in the upcoming series.
As creator and co-showrunner Courtney A. Kemp previously announced, the new project will “continue the journey of some of ‘Power’s’ most controversial characters.” The forthcoming series serves as one of several developing installments in the “Power” franchise as part of Kemp’s overall deal with network parent company, Lionsgate.
The former WuTang Clan member will play Davis Maclean, a sharp and ethically challenged attorney who falls into the fictional murderous and drug-riddled world run by Blige’s character. Though, its soon revealed that the lawyer with a passion for winning has a few secrets of his own.

In a film culture overrun by Marvel epics, wild-stunt action flicks, and other grandiose juvenilia, it is often said that the mid-budget, script-driven movie for adults is becoming a thing of the past. But don’t tell that to Kevin Smith, whose “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” a shaggy antic throwaway that premiered Tuesday in the first of two one-night shows at 600 theaters (it will travel out after that in a 65-city road-show release), stands (sort of) as a proud exception to the rule of corporate blockbuster overkill.
It’s without doubt a script-driven movie — not just because Smith, after 25 years as a filmmaker, wouldn’t know an expressive (or well-lit) camera angle if it bit him, but because he remains, in his rowdy stoner never-made-a-dick-joke-he-didn’t-like way, a furiously flowing wordsmith, one who can write the kind of spontaneous sick-comedy monologues that heat up the screen. The 420 Day premiere of How High 2 was clearly a high for MTV. The movie sequel to the stoner classic drew a 0.64 rating in P18-49 and 801,000 total viewers in Live+same day, giving MTV its highest-rated Saturday in six years, according to the network and Nielsen.
The solid numbers came on the heels of MTV’s seventh consecutive quarter of ratings growth. The movie, which aired at 9 Pm Et/Pt April 20, outperformed the time period average by 133% and dominated social media throughout the weekend as the No. 1 most social non-sports program.
To capitalize on 420 (Weed Day), MTV’s Too High to Watch How High 2 stunt — hosted by cast members DC Young Fly and DeRay Davis — aired throughout the day with games, trivia and sneaks inside a marathon of all three films in the Friday franchise and the original How High movie from 18 years ago that starred Method Man and Redman.

The 2001 comedy “How High” is a classic of the stoner genre. Starring rappers Method Man and Redman as Silas and Jamal, they play average students who turn Ivy League. After smoking a special strain of marijuana, the two ace their college entrance exams and wind up at Harvard. Taking the college life in stride, when their supply of supernatural grade marijuana runs dry, the true hijinks begin.
Eighteen years — or a full generation — later, the franchise is being revived by Universal 1440 Entertainment, which naturally chose April 20 for its premiere on MTV. The hip-hop centric plot centers around best buds Roger, played by Lil Yachty, and Calvin, played by D.C. Young Fly, Atlanta “potrepreneurs” who go on “a magical weed-filled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up.”

About seven years ago, stories about “Bob Dylan’s Rapping Grandson” flooded the internet. Politicians are easy targets. They’re constantly in the public eye, and just like an actor they’re being mercilessly scrutinized on a daily basis. The difference between them is that an actor serves themselves and a politician tends to serve the people, or so we all like to hope and believe. When it comes to their personal sense of style and fashion however Hollywood, critics, and the public in general seem to have little to no mercy when it comes to what are seen as obvious fashion faux pas. A few weeks back, DC’s latest outing, Wonder Woman, was supposedly tracking at around $65 million for its domestic opening. While the opening would have been okay, assuming that the following weekends didn’t drop too hard, it certainly seemed like a disappointing number for a franchise whose previous two films premiered north of $100 million.
All that seemed to change this Monday when early reviews started pouring in. For the longest time, it sat pretty at around 97 percent, and even now with 150 total reviews now in, the film is still at a fantastic 92 percent — meaning that 92 percent of critics so far gave the film a positive review. This comes in stark contrast to Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, both of which rated at less than 30 percent on the review aggregate site.

With $215 million at the North American box office and $419 million overseas, Doctor Strange has now earned $634 million worldwide. That means it has passed Iron Man 2 globally, and it should easily top Thor: The Dark World's $644 million in the coming weeks. Whether it will be able to beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714 million) remains to be seen, but this is a pretty amazing result. Going back to this weekend, and Moana - which stars Dwayne Johnson - came out on top with $28 million. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was in second place, and has now hit $600 million worldwide. It may not be a $1 billion hit like the final Harry Potter movie, but that's a solid start for a franchise Warner Bros. hopes will launch four more sequels. Oh, and Arrival has now hit $100 million. What did you guys watch this weekend? How high do you think Doctor Strange will ultimately go?...
