A Trailer Or A Movie Unto Itself?
ccthemovieman-127 July 2007
"There are over six billion people alive in the world today. Science has devised a virus deadly enough to kill every last one of them. In the hands of a madman, it could be the most powerful weapon of international terrorism in human history. Only the hands of a righteous man can save us now, the hands with man who has...............HARRY KNUCKLES!"

Well, that was a great start to this homemade-looking little short film which is meant to look like a trailer for a feature film to come....but it never did, and probably never intended to. Most likely, this was just a project by the guys who put it together. Hey, it succeeded: it made it on a DVD called "Movieside Film Festival."

Most of the film is simply people fighting each other. The first minute is a bit boring then it gets interesting with some odd happenings, such a woman getting socked in both breasts and a man being pummeled with a toboggan

This is extremely amateurish, but that's the attraction.

Super cheesy and amateurish but still likable.

This is one of several short films included on a DVD entitled "Movieside Film Festival"--a compilations of mostly terrible short films. Now you need to understand that I rarely say such negative things about shorts--after all, you want to encourage young film makers....except for the ones whose films are featured on this disk. You see, I love short films and have bought or seen just about every short film compilation I could find over the years and it offends me that such slap-dash and suspect quality films were marketed to unsuspecting viewers.

Compared to most of the other shorts, "Harry Knuckles" is like a film by Fellini! No, it isn't because "Harry Knuckles" is brilliant but because the rest is so bad. The film consists of some friends getting together to make a fake movie trailer for a martial arts action film. While the production values are pretty poor, there is a certain silly likability that says "hey...try again...you ARE at least on the right track". So folks, try again...there is some real potential here despite the budget of $48.88 (and $46 of this was for lumber).
