Political propaganda based on the true story
zzmale6 April 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Sunflower blossoms.

This movie is based on the true story that really happened in the early or mid-1950's. The movie painted a very realistic picture of how the productivity was increased. However, such realistic depiction cannot disguise the purpose of political propaganda because of the year this movie was made: 1960. This is the last year of the Great Leap Forward movement launched by Mao and the sign of its disastrous effects were beginning to appear. To divert public attention from Mao's disastrous policy, this movie was made to urge people to concentrate on work.
