Best coming-of-age movie of the Nineties!
bwilliamson-27 January 2005
Set in that timeless age of the endless Summer, Girl Cottage brings back all the memories of sun, surf, cheap beer and the love affair that remained just out of reach. The story opens as four best friends arrive at their Balboa rental house at the beginning of their last summer before "real life" begins. As "North County" (i.e., inland) girls, they are quickly noticed by the local boys -- and hijinks ensue! Days filled with surfing, volleyball, and laziness on the beach turn to the beer and bar-b-q as the sun goes down, and relationships soon develop. Of course, nothing is as easy as it seems, and the girls' "carefree" last Summer begins to look like their first taste of real life. Track this film down -- you won't be disappointed!

Waste of time

The only other comment on this film is made by someone who is either in the film or has a financial interest. The trailer of this film is enough to make you sick, much less wasting time watching the whole film. "Best Coming of Age" film? You've got to be kidding me!!!! Orange County Beach scenery, i.e. Newport Beach, is the only thing worth looking at if the actors would get out of the way.

Again, this looks more like a senior high school project then a film. If you want to see a good coming of age film, check out "Stand By Me" (actually written by Stephen King), or anything else but this movie. It's pure trash.
