Hannah Dakota Fanning, born February 23, 1994, is a well-known American actress. She is 5 feet 4 inches (162.6 cm) tall, the average height for an American woman, and wears a size 7 (US) shoe.
In other systems, her shoe size would be approximately 37 in European sizing, 5 in the UK, and 23.5 in the Japanese.
“I’m a shorter person, so I’ll see something and think, ‘That looks amazing!’ But that person is 6ft 1in. It’s going to look different on my 5ft 5in frame,” she told The Guardian about her average height in 2016.

An excited crowd of country music festival-goers and Palm Springs locals looked on as Charley Crockett kicked off a night of songs and conversation by asserting a truth that any songwriter knows: “It’s easy to start a song. It’s a lot harder to finish one,” he said. Stephen Wilson Jr. and Drayton Farley, seated on the intimate stage next to him, nodded in agreement. Rolling Stone’s Senior Editor Joseph Hudak opened the night by asking the three groundbreaking country music artists about their songwriting process in the...

Hollywood star Tom Cruise gifted actress Dakota Fanning her first mobile phone for her 11th birthday after they starred together in 2005’s ‘War of the Worlds’ and has sent her a gift every year since.
Fanning told Harper’s Bazaar in a joint interview with her 47-year-old ‘Ripley’ co-star Andrew Scott about the phone present when they were asked: “Who gave Dakota her first cell phone?”
Scott guessed: “Okay, well it’s going to be some Hollywood icon… Tom Cruise?”
She agreed and said Cruise had given her a Motorola Razr when she turned 11, with Andrew asking: “Were you so excited?”
The actress replied: “Oh, my God, I was so excited,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.
However, she said she “didn’t have anybody to call or text at that time,” adding: “You know, I was 11. But I loved having it. I loved it. I felt so cool. Tom sends me a birthday gift every year,...

Dakota Fanning has revealed the one date every year that Tom Cruise never forgets: her birthday!
During a recent interview for Harper’s Bazaar with her Ripley co-star Andrew Scott, the actress shared that she got her first mobile phone as a gift from the Top Gun: Maverick star.
After Scott guessed the correct answer to “Who gave Dakota her first cellphone?” saying, “Ok, well it’s going to be some Hollywood icon … Tom Cruise,” Fanning confirmed that the actor gifted her a Motorola Razr for her 11th birthday while they were filming 2005’s War of the Worlds together.
“Oh, my God, I was so excited,” the Twilight actress recalled, before noting that she “didn’t have anybody to call or text at that time,” so she wasn’t exactly sure how useful the present was for her.
“You know, I was 11,” she quipped. “But I loved having it. I loved it.

(L-r) Shirley MacLaine as Astrid and Peter Dinklage as Phil Loder, in American Dreamer. Courtesy of Vertical
In the comedy American Dreamer, Peter Dinklage plays a curmudgeonly college professor with a dream to buy a home far beyond his limited means, while Shirley MacLaine plays a wealthy retiree who has just such a fabulous home for sale for an unbelievable price – with one big catch. Loosely inspired – very loosely – by real events, the major delight of this sometimes crazy comedy is in the pairing of Dinklage and MacLaine, who make a perfect, and perfectly insane, comedy duo in this film.
Dinklage plays Dr. Phil Loder who teaches economics from a sociological view at a small college. Loder may teach economics but his own economics are pretty dismal for a professor of the dismal science. Underpaid and twice-divorced, he doesn’t have tenure, and he can’t even seem to get...

Account of the German film-maker’s singular career takes in numerous starry admirers but also is a portrait of an existential disruptor
With pop-culture brand recognition like no other auteur, he walks the walk and talks the talk … in that inimitable voice. Werner Herzog – film-maker, visionary, adventurer and first among equals of the New German cinema – is now the subject of a highly enjoyable new documentary from Thomas von Steinaecker, who has assembled an A-list gallery of interviewees to talk about knowing or working with the great man; these include Wim Wenders, Volker Schlöndorff, Nicole Kidman, Chloé Zhao, Joshua Oppenheimer, Robert Pattinson and many more.
The release of this film happens to coincide with Herzog’s autobiography Every Man for Himself and God Against All (which is also the original German title of his film The Enigma of Kasper Hauser) and I was a little disappointed that Radical Dreamer does...

Kiefer is back with a new song, “Dreamer”. After several live band projects, the L.A. based artist has returned to his roots – playing keys and making beats. “Dreamer” arose from the optimism that Kiefer says is a pillar of his personality. He says: “I’m an optimist, an idealist, and someone who wishes for things that maybe cannot be.”
Since his debut LP Kickinit Alone, Kiefer Shackelford has become synonymous with a scene of artists whose music draws on and orbits around jazz without fitting neatly into a single genre. That scene includes some of Kiefer’s close collaborators Carrtoons and Theo Croker, while his signature piano playing and production have been sought after by stars from Drake to Anderson .Paak – with Kiefer winning a Grammy Award for his work with the latter.
“Dreamer” is the first taste from a new album, set for release later this year. While...

From the early hits of now young adult actors and actresses like Dakota Fanning and Jaden Smith to one of Will Smith’s emotional movies and the 2020 Best Picture Oscar winner “Parasite,” there are options for all sorts of audiences, even the superhero-loving ones.
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” lands on the streamer after being released in theaters in March. The Max rebrand preceded Sydney Sweeney’s next project “Reality,” the television movie taken from an FBI transcript. A campy take on the story of Snow White is available to stream as well.

May 1 marks the series debut of “White House Plumbers,” the new limited series from “Veep” showrunner David Mandel that chronicles the Watergate break-in and fallout. That show airs on HBO and will stream on HBO Max. Then on May 4, the comedy “The Other Two” returns for its third season on HBO Max.
The sixth season of the animated series “Rick and Morty” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting on May 11, and in terms of library titles the “Men in Black” trilogy, the comedies “Step Brothers” and “Some Like It Hot” and Jonah Hill’s directorial debut “Mid90s” all come to HBO and HBO Max this month.

Wait a minute, you might be asking, isn’t HBO Max supposed to be “Max” now? How then, am I seeing a list of HBO Max new releases for May 2023? Well spotted, dear reader. Warner Bros. Discovery did indeed recently reveal that it would be rebranding its combined HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service as just Max. As the company notes in its press release for May though, that change doesn’t take effect until May 23. What follows is a list of everything coming to HBO Max through May 22.
The biggest releases this month are two TV series that arrive at the beginning of May. White House Plumbers is a comedic take on the infamous Watergate scandal starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. That will be followed by season 3 of The Other Two, which I personally consider the funniest show on television. Catch up now before it’s too late!

HBO Max will officially be replaced by Warner Bros. Discovery on May 23 with a new and improved service called Max. However, that doesn’t mean the service is scrimping on content until then. One of the biggest new releases of the month is the new limited series “White House Plumbers,” which will premiere on May 1. Starring Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt and Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy, the pair portray two real-life Watergate burglars and Nixon saboteurs who ended up destroying the very president they desperately wanted to serve.
Check out the “White House Plumbers” trailer:
The platform will head to the pitch on May 16 with a three-part soccer docuseries “Angel City.” The series goes behind the scenes with the groundbreaking Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team, Angel City Football Club. The following contains The Flash spoilers
The Flash Season 9 Episode 7
Although we’re well into The Flash’s final season, the show appears to be taking a breather before gearing up for its last run (pun absolutely intended) with a handful of what showrunner Eric Wallace likes to call “interludes,” quieter installments that tend to focus on smaller stories or highlight the show’s supporting characters. “Wildest Dreams” isn’t an hour that necessarily moves the plot of the season forward all that much—though it does touch once again on Iris’ emotional discomfort with the idea of her future being a set path that doesn’t allow her to make her own choices—but it’s a great example of the deft interconnectivity that has always been a hallmark of The CW’s Arrowverse.

Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action feature film adaptation of a DC Comics title will feature an openly trans character. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of “Batgirl” written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.

This Supergirl article contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 6, “Prom Again!”
Supergirl Season 6 Episode 6
Brainy and Nia’s journey back in time to Midvale saw a marked improvement (and even more time travel!) in its second episode. Part Cat Grant-origin story, part sales pitch for a Dreamer (and Brainy?) spin-off, Olivia Nikkanen (young Alex) and Izabela Vidovic (young Kara) continue to wholly embody Chyler Leigh and Melissa Benoist to an eerily impressive level. For her part, Chyler Leigh herself made her directorial debut in an episode that was so good, Brainy even happy-cried.
This episode resolved two of the biggest issues that plagued the first half of the two-parter. The bounty-hunting aliens were barely on screen, even as they became a bigger plot engine than before. Instead of forcing us to have to look at and listen to them, their ship became scenery and they were something like living MacGuffins,...

Steve Carell plays Santa Claus leading an elf reinvention of Christmas in The Greatest Gift, the latest long-form ad for Xfinity TV and broadband.
The Comcast division debuted a two-minute version of the short film on NBC’s broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with a three-and-a-half-minute version going online right afterward. (Watch the longer one above.) The branding effort is following the pattern established with last Thanksgiving’s popular mini-reboot of E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.
Craig Gillespie, director of I, Tonya and upcoming Disney release Cruella, took the helm for the spot, which depicts a last-minute reworking of the Christmas ritual. The tumultuous events of 2020, from Covid-19 to the presidential election to racial unrest, necessitate a change to the usual approach to the holidays. “After the year we’ve had, the usual gifts just aren’t going to cut it,” Santa informs a group of elves via a videoconference.

As puzzling as it was that NBC News scheduled its town hall with Donald Trump against ABC News and Joe Biden, credit is due to moderator Savannah Guthrie for turning it into much more of an hourlong interview than a series of softballs from everyday folk.
Throughout the hour, she peppered the president with questions on his Covid-19 testing, on his retweets of conspiracy theories, on whether he’s indebted to the tune of $400 million.
It was a bit of a recovery for the network, which has endured 24 hours of drubbing for scheduling its event as counter-programming, making for one of the more bizarre moments in a presidential campaign. Critics characterized it as a giveaway of airtime to Trump.
“We want to say right off the top: This is not the way things were supposed to go tonight,” Guthrie said at the outset, while acknowledging that Biden was doing a...

‘The Assistant.’
As more cinemas around Australia opened their doors, ticket sales improved last weekend from a low base as several art house titles led by Kitty Green’s The Assistant entered the market.
Exhibitors blame the lack of new mainstream releases rather than any discernible reticence to return to cinemas.
“Business is incredibly quiet, with no new films in the market,” says Geoff Chard, national programming manager at Village Cinemas, which re-opened eight complexes last week with another six to follow this Thursday and the remainder later in July.
“Titanic, released 23 years ago, was number four for the weekend. That makes perfect sense as the films released in February and March are still the top films, albeit on very low grosses.”

Hollywood actors, just like most everyone in just about every industry, have been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic. And many who can’t count on residuals from $1 billion blockbusters or live in mansions off Sunset Blvd. were stranded and left to wonder how to pay the bills — pretty much overnight.
In interviews with a half dozen up-and-coming actors and performers in Los Angeles and New York, a picture emerged of a young creative class that has been stopped in its tracks — with industry careers screeching to a halt and no income coming in from backup jobs in fitness, food service and marketing that have also been decimated by the pandemic.
“Literally within two or three days, all of a sudden, every single job I had lined up was just gone,” Kara Connolly, an actress in the independent film space and SAG-aftra member, told TheWrap.

For many, the name Kim Carnes calls to mind one particular song title: “Bette Davis Eyes.” That’s what spending nine weeks at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981 will do. Two years before that song hit the charts, though, Carnes was approached by country-pop superstar Kenny Rogers to work on a different sort of project. The singer wanted to create a concept album telling the tale of a modern-day cowboy, and he wanted Carnes — a prolific songwriter who’d spent the first part of her career penning tunes...

To put it simply — and, yes, gratefully — “Phoenix, Oregon” is the sort of movie a lot of us need right now. It’s an undemandingly enjoyable and reassuringly predictable dramedy in which nothing, not even the sourball attitudes of its comically unpleasant malcontents, ever is allowed to get out of hand or unduly strain credibility. But it also is too playfully spiky and unaffectedly down-to-earth to come across as bland pablum.
The actors are well-cast, and almost all of them are as engaging as their roles can allow. (One of the aforementioned malcontents actually turns out to the polar opposite of a poor loser.) In short, this well-crafted indie is a thoroughly pleasant trifle that can provide VOD diversion more comforting than a cup of tea during these trying times. And if that doesn’t sound appealing, well, that’s Ok: Some people simply don’t like tea.

This Supergirl review contains spoilers.
Supergirl Season 5 Episode 15
Supergirl has long been the Arrowverse series most willing to wear its heart on its sleeve. Perhaps it’s because it was the first series to feature a female superhero as its lead. Maybe it’s that Kara’s hopeful, optimistic nature makes her the natural choice for a universal moral compass. Either way, the show is well known for its willingness to push the envelope on issues of representation, equality and justice onscreen, in ways that few other superhero properties can match.
Throughout the series’ run, we’ve seen female characters like Kara, Alex, and Kat Grant fight to be taken seriously in a man’s world. Kara herself is a refugee and an adopted daughter; in the world of the show she has been both treated as an object of faith for some and feared as a monster by others.

This is a busy week full of premieres, and at a time the world is crumbling, well, we need premieres!
And just to ensure that politics are never far out of reach, these premieres run the gambit of the political spectrum.
There is a documentary about fake news, alternate history addressing the treatment of Jews in America, a culture clash between two mothers, and even a line of female witches answering the call of duty to protect their motherland. Check it out!
Sunday, March 15
8/7c When Calls the Heart (Hallmark)
If you think Coronavirus is a big deal, then let it settle in that once upon a time, measles and chickenpox were catastrophic.
And on Wcth this week, Elizabeth, Carson, and Faith deal an outbreak of chickenpox, and Rosemary falls ill! Scary stuff.
And if that's not enough, things heat up as Nathan and Lucas stop hiding their feelings for the "town.

March 30, 1970. Racing champion Secretariat was born.
After Citation in 1948, Secretariat became the first U.S. Triple Crown winner in 25 years and became the stuff of legend.
New York Post columnist Larry Merchant said:
“Secretariat is the kind of Big Horse that makes grown men weep, even when they are flint-hearted bettors, even when he goes off at 1-10. He is the apparently unflawed hunk of beauty and beast they search for doggedly in the racing charts every day, and never seemed to find. His supporters rhapsodize over him as though he is a four-legged Nureyev, extolling virtues of his musculature, his grace, his urine specimens.” If he were to lose the Belmont, Merchant warned, “the country may turn sullen and mutinous.”
As of 2015, only 12 horses have won the Triple Crown: Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), Affirmed (1978), and American Pharoah (2015).

Production is set to begin today on If I Stay for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), starring Chloë Grace Moretz (“Carrie”) as Mia and Jamie Blackley (“Snow White and The Huntsmen”) as Adam, with R.J. Cutler (“Nashville”) directing.
The film follows Mia (Moretz), who at age 16 has everything: a loving family, an adoring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music. Suddenly, a family drive on a snowy day changes everything. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, Mia spends one critical day contemplating her destiny, which is now more unknowable than ever. Is her soul mate’s love enough to keep her here? Tragic but ultimately hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting and uplifting story about music, life and love.
The film also stars Mireille Enos (“The Killing”) as Mia’s mother Kat, Stacy Keach (“Nebraska”) as Gramps, Liana Liberato (“Trust”) as Kim,...

John Gatins spent 12 years working on "Flight." Today, finally, he is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter, but getting the news wasn't the best thing that happened to him today. No, that came when presenter Emma Stone actually pronounced his name correctly. This is such a rare phenomenon -- the name is pronounced Gate-ins -- that he assumed he was dreaming.
It's fun to talk to nominees like Gatins -- people who have been struggling for so many years, doing everything from parking cars to watering Brad Pitt's plants (seriously), and now get to spend the rest of their lives being introduced as "Oscar nominee" so-and-so. Gatins, the son of a New York City police officer, is not going through the motions when he says how honored he is that the Academy acknowledged him -- "Flight" is literally his life work. Ahead, our chat with ... Oscar nominee John Gate-ins.

One of the intriguing parts of the Oscar race for me is watching excellent movies, and then discovering how much adversity, disappointment and years go into them. Whether you’re even nominated, this part of awards season is a validation of the artists’ struggle, offering encouragement to others trying not to give up on their own passion projects. I’m not sure anyone in this race personifies that more than Flight scribe John Gatins. You can look at Flight and marvel at Denzel Washington’s performance or how much movie Robert Zemeckis put onscreen with only a $30 million budget. But the most compelling back story is Gatins, who wrote a script that fit no studio’s template of a make-able movie, particularly with Gatins’ insistence he direct it. Gatins became a successful writer after acting didn’t pan out. His only directing credit, Dreamer, was a family film about a broken race horse,...

2012, USA
Premiering at the closing night of the New York Film Festival, Robert Zemeckis dives back into live-action filmmaking from a twelve year motion capture hiatus with Flight. An audacious, well-matured character ensemble piece about a man whose most heroic venture may have resulted from his most innate pitfall, this provocative drama gives Denzel Washington one of the most layered and conflicting characters of his career. The Paramount release will be a gripping arrival on November 2 for audiences, proving to be the thought-provoking robust taste many will crave by year’s end.
From the film’s very raw beginning, we are introduced to commercial airline pilot Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washngton), a middle-aged man who knows how to live life large as well as the ropes to piloting. We meet Whip lying in bed at seven o-clock in Orlando from an alcohol induced coma,...

A couple of months ago we reported that EA was in the process of setting up a movie based on their popular Need for Speed video game franchise, and that several studios were circling the project. We now have an update on that front and it looks like things are shifting into high gear. According to THR, DreamWorks has landed the screen rights to the franchise, which is a little bit surprising considering that they weren't even mentioned as a contender in the original article. However, it makes a little bit of sense because DreamWorks previously worked with screenwriter John Gatins on Real Steel and his directorial debut Dreamer. They have also hired Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) to direct. DreamWorks chairman Steven Spielberg had this to say about the project: "I'm excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA...

DreamWorks has officially announced that they are teaming up with EA games to bring us a big screen adaptation of the hit video game franchise Need for Speed. As previously rumored, Act of Valor director Scott Waugh will direct the feature film adaptation from a story developed by brothers George and John Gatins (Real Steel).
The movie won't be based on any individual game, but it will be "a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise." We've previously heard that it will feature a cross-country race from San Francisco to New York.
The movie is set to be released in 2014, and as a fan of this franchise, I'm excited to see what they end up actually doing with it! Are you looking forward to seeing a Need For Speed feature film?...
