Fun movie if you know the players
lpiland15 March 2005
Fun movie for DSC fans. Come on IMDb, get the other actors names in the there. Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw are the real stars of this movie. You can tell that these guys are having fun in this movie. For such a low budget movie it actually plays well. The cameo appearances by several well know actors really add to the film. If you live in San Diego or listen to DSC on 101.5FM KGB in San Diego then this is a must have for your collection. All the profit from this movie goes to a fund that they use to support listeners in need of a little support to get by. Don't get me wrong, this is not your big budget Hollywood blockbuster. After all it was made with a high-end semi-pro digital video camera and directed by one of the members of the cast. So if you want so see a whacky morning radio show hosts and a lot of well know actors chipping in with cameo rolls in a fun, well paced romp then get this movie. The money goes to a good cause.

this movie rocks!

I love Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw!! You must watch this movie over and over and over again. Even if you are not a listener of their radio show, you will injure yourself laughing non-stop through this movie. Go buy several copies if you can find them, and keep one under your pillow for emergencies, or with the hopes that you will absorb some comic genius through the fiber fill. When I first got a glimpse of Ruth 66, I thought, wow, if she's a lesbian, then sign me up! And when I first saw Bromo, well, I was doubly convinced to consider becoming a lesbian! Beautiful cinematography, really captures a local's eye view of San Diego, in all her glory. You will not believe the star cameos!

Great Film
bcpalm14 March 2005
Great film for fans of KGB morning show Dave,Shelly & Chainsaw in San Diego! Full of jokes and gags from their 15 years on the air here in San Diego. The guest shots are great from Bob Costas, Don Rickles and Dr. Laura. The story involves a missing "J-K" encyclopedia of chainsaw's which he has accused Dave of borrowing and not returning. The story goes deeper into a "Deep Throat" type of conspiracy and intrigue. The ending is great and unexpected (I won't give it away). The laughs are quick and many. The best part is the money raised from the sale of the DVD go to the Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw charities. The DSC charity helps out San Diegans in need with minimum donations of $1,000. It's a great film and the proceeds go to a great cause.

A great title

Warning: Spoilers
This is a good film for a good cause. Chainsaw put together a great film with a lot of subtle humor. The Office Space-esquire boss was pretty funny, especially when his mug kept on changing through the clear-channel radio stations. Yes, I did notice, Chainsaw. There were a few inside jokes like the Bromo bets, but they did a pretty good job of explaining it to non-listeners. The scene when Dave is walking to the garage gets boring, though.

They should add more of Bromo into the film. That guy played his parts really funnily.

I liked the fact they included Dr. Laura in even though you don't like her ideas. And where was Ruth 66 really? On Ask Us Anything you said that Ruth was somewhere in it. I checked her picture on 101KGB.com, watched it a few more times, and couldn't find her. Pray tell, Dave?

Keeping in mind it's a budget picture with the proceeds going straight to listeners, I'd give it 8/10.

Pretty Lame

I give this a 6 because it's slightly better than the average Joe home made project. I am a big fan of the show and I really wanted this movie to be funny, but this movie barely made me politely chuckle at best.

It's nice that its for charity, but it doesn't make the movie any funnier. There are scenes that seem to exist for no reason at all. For example, the softball game didn't progress the plot and didn't have any laughs. It made me wonder if it was included just because the directory wanted to justify asking a bunch of listeners to help out as extras for that scene.

The soundtrack made no sense in a lot of cases. Why is "Live in Japan" even used? There is nothing about Japan even hinted at and it's used at least twice. Once in the movie and over the closing credits. Did the director include this because his friend is on the band or something?

I did enjoy Bromo's bits. He has a natural talent of being a goof. I think he can get laughs just by being himself, which he does. I'd like to see a movie with him as the main character. It would be a bit like watching a grown man version of Napolean Dynamite.
