Sherry Sheridan, an entertainer on the stage comes to realise that his act, and life in general, are starting to fall apart at the seams, his marriage is on the rocks, and his job lacks security.
I recently completed The On the buses series, and stumbled upon this, I figured it would be a comedy, the realisation was very different, this is quite a straight laced, serious drama.
It's a decent watch, enough of a story here to make me want to track the film version down. If you're going in expecting laughs, forget it, there's actually something rather sad, Sherry is quite the tragic character.
Reg Varney is excellent as Sherry, to my mind, it's the only time I've seen him in a serious role, and credit where it's due, he plays the part well. Watching this made me wonder if he ever had the credit he deserved.
It does have a fairly low budget feel, that's perhaps the biggest criticism, it'll be interesting to see if that's put right in the film.
6/10.
