great little film
slipcat55522 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this short film at New York University's series of short films in Spanish. It is simply a casual meeting between a young, very cute, mute kid and an older man. They meet on the street and then decide to go to a cheap hotel and have sex. This was not in the context of a gay film series, so it was a surprise to me and perhaps a shock to some of the audience, who may not be used to seeing such casual encounters between men. Though short and simple, David was beautifully filmed and acted, and the overall mood is more romantic than sleazy. I would like to see more of the actor who played David and I will definitely look out for more films by this director (though he is apparently more active as a producer).

Touching

Warning: Spoilers
**DEFINITE SPOILERS** David (Jorge Adrian Espindola) is a very beautiful mute teenage boy. He meets an older man named Jose (Javier Escobar). David wants to go to bed with Jose. They have sex in a tasteful and very beautiful love scene. Then Jose dresses and leaves. While leaving he looks back and sees David watching him from the window with a look of sadness on his face as he waves goodbye. **END SPOILER**

Touching and quiet short--easily one of the best gay shorts ever. There's not much of a story but it's beautifully told. The actions between the two are not shown in a positive or negative light--no judgment is passed which is very refreshing. Escobar is OK (he seems uncomfortable) but Espindola is perfect. He has an angelic face and has to express all his emotions through facial expressions and his eyes. He pulls it off perfectly. Don't be surprised if you're a little misty-eyed at the end. A 10.

So much with so little words.

Warning: Spoilers
There are so many movies (especially fictional shorts) about brief encounters and usually they rely on substantial amounts of "character building" dialogue. This film on the other hand does the exact opposite and it is the characters situations that enable this to work so effectively.

A middle aged jobless man meets a mute film buff, their methods of communication alone force the filmmaker to adopt quite, subtle and meditative techniques.

The two men discover each other (body and soul) whilst at the same time discovering how to communicate. It can be said that their relationship develops at the same pace as their scattered dialogue. Then in good "brief encounter" fashion, as soon as they get close they have to part ways.

David is a beautiful and lyrical film about the smaller less dramatic seeming moments in life that can only be captured by true poets.

One Of The Best Short (Gay Themed) Movies Ever
nurielt20 December 2006
It's often that movies that deal with controversial issues hold a promise to let a bitter pill (the subject) sink nice and easy into the minds of the public. A lot of them, may i just say, are superb and the trick their makers use, which is usually sweetness, works as it should for them and us. However, this is the very first time that a movie, and a Gay themed short one too, manages to tempt the viewer into watching a very (to say the least) controversial tale in a way that is so warm and so gentle and naive, that even if you are nothing but against its ideas and morals, by the time it ends, you're already wiping a secret tear and singing "Let Love Rule" to yourself. Watch "David" even if you are blind, it's beautiful.

One Excellent Short Gay Themed Movie Ever, Wish It Was Longer. So Touchy those made me realize how difficult mute people can communicate With others that can speak. I have seen many Gay Themed movies but Unfortunately not like this fascinating awesome piece. It's a must see… It's a piece for all ages, all kinds: straights, gays, blinds, mutants, Etc... This is a controversial theory for all people, the acting is Amazing, directing is fabulous and the 3 dimension picture motion is Excellent, to my point of view, I would have preferred this movie piece to be longer, it's a pity that it isn't satisfying for viewers to see, cause while watching they'll feel that they need more to see in order to reach the satisfaction limit. I can't say more....

Loved it.

Heartbreaking, beautiful, well acted and one of the sexiest love making scenes I have ever seen in my life.

The tale of a mute and a hunk writing messages back and forth after they met in a park will warm the most cynical gay man's heart. The actor playing David was as handsome as handsome gets and I must admit (without cheapening the film) when the white briefs are pulled down David's legs revealing a very perfect butt, my heart did in fact pidder just a bit.

Breathtaking. This was included in the Boy's Briefs 3, which is the best of the series so far, all eight films including, "Little Boy Blues" starring Tony nominated actor Malcolm Gets are superior films. Netflix has it.

or naivety. because it is a story of trust, friendship and generosity. a film who escape from its subject. touching for story and for performances - Jorge Adrian Espindola does a great job - and for emotion. a film who represents the meet with a form of cinema who escapes of ordinary definitions. the cause - maybe, its special status - to represent the essence of this art. because the story of David is so... unexpected. after many films, you knows the evolution of characters and story. in this case - no surprises. only the meet of two people, an afternoon and one at the window. and this is all.
