A Documentary Film About The 80's Mexican Bank Robber Alfredo Ríos Galeana
cji2522 June 2006
This documentary exposes, in a very interesting and sometimes funny way, the career of Alfredo Ríos Galeana. This man, and his gang, were the most famous and successful bank robbers in the decade of 1980 in Mexico. He was named "Public Enemy #1" be the media.

It is composed of lots of TV footage and interviews with the investigators involved in the case. It sees the whole situation from a more actual perspective. It has a description of the complete case, part by part by the agent that caught him.

It is called "El Charro Misterioso"-"The mysterious Charro", because Ríos Galeana, besides being a criminal, used to make records, singing traditional Mexican music.A "charro" is a kind of Mexican cowboy, but it is a characterized by using a big hat, and a dark suit, with lots of decorations and embroideries, sometimes made with gold or silver thread.

Along the documentary there are also some footage in which appears Arturo Durazo, the police chief at that times. One of the greatest criminals in Mexico, also.

At last, the documentary ends with a question: ¿Where is Alfredo Ríos Galeana?. He was caught at the end of the 80's, and he managed to escape from prison in 1986 by an armed commando that entered the penitentiary.

In 2005, July 12, he was caught again in the US, and now he is, for life, in prison. At the time the documentary was released, this still had not happened.
