In his 2019 autobiography, "Baby Don't Hurt Me", Chris Kattan recounts that when he was asked to submit a list of sketches to be included in this Best Of compilation, he was told the Roxbury sketch from Jim Carrey/Soundgarden (1996) could not be used, as it was already on Saturday Night Live: The Best of Will Ferrell (2002). Further more, the "Mood Music" sketch Kattan performed in Teri Hatcher/Dave Matthews Band (1996) and Renée Zellweger/Eve (2001) could not be included because of music clearance rights, and for the same reason the Mr. Peepers sketch from Katie Holmes/Dave Matthews Band (2001) was rejected. Kattan was offered the option to have them replace the songs in these sketches with more affordable titles, but declined to do so, feeling that it would have been replacing Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" in Apocalypse Now (1979) with "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls.
