This show is GREAT!!!

Brilliant idea and very well executed. This is a great way to learn about relatively undiscovered talent, as well as a few names you might already know. The first season was awesome and from what I've seen of the second, it looks even better! The production quality has gone up and they got some really cool guests like Bill Plympton and Lloyd Kaufman. Unfortunately, being on CUNY TV 75 (a local cable channel here in NYC) it isn't accessible on TV everywhere, but I believe you can still watch all the episodes on the website for free. How cool is that? Everything about the show is so refreshingly independent. Even all the theme music and stuff is either by the creator of the show or various artists who have been guests.

If you are interested in any form of art - be it music, writing, acting, spoken word, photography, sculpture, film, video, whatever - you should check out this show.

ART Or Something Like It!

Artists from the NYC area are given a chance to show you what they've got on this show. The host also interviews the performers so you get their background info. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Singers, poets, cartoonists, movie producers, story-tellers, musicians, and lots of talent that you may not have seen, or you might have experienced, you can see it in a new light in this series. There are some who will make you go ohhhhh, some that will make you go ahhhhhhh, and some that will make you go...What the Heck? The beauty of this show is you never know what to expect next!

I had the pleasure of seeing these artists perform live at the AOSLI Season 2 Premiere event:

Adam Matta (Human Beat Box Extraodinaire) The sounds he emits from his vocal cords are truly awe-inspiring!

Julz A (Accordian) Squeeze Rock! I have a brand-new respect for The Accordian now because of this performer. Once upon a time many moons ago, Accordion Music gave my ears much woe. Julz A began to play, my body began to sway, will be lovin' The Accordian for the rest of my days!

Clay McLeod (Captivating Teller of Stories) Let's just say he will mesmerize you, when you see and hear him tell a story!
