A bundle of a settlement
bkoganbing1 March 2017
Roger Smith is retained by an insurance company to investigate an industrial accident where widow Suzanne Lloyd will inherit a bundle. $50.000 to be exact. But she's not looking for double indemnity which would bring the cops in. In fact the questions that Jeff Spencer is asking are getting to be a bit much.

There are some superficial resemblances to Double Indemnity, there's another murder at the factory and no doubt about this one being such. There's also a nice performance from Kathleen Freeman as the deceased's landlady who is most observant, likes her beer and turn out to be a dead shot.

Worth seeing for her alone.

Or the Spider's Web

Yes folks, everything here seems to make the audiences expect a femme fatale, a deadly woman for any male who may approach her. A pretty good episode indeed, supported by the exceptional noir atmosphere which is the trade mark of the series. Actually our leads, including Cookie, investigate for the purpose of an insurance executive who suspects a swindle after an accident that occurred in a big factory. and the male diseased had a wife for whom the money should be given to. See what I drive at?

Well, this story remains very predictable. The routine stuff.

One more time, directed by George Waggner
