Alex Henteloff as forger Harold Polanski
kevinolzak24 February 2014
"The Social Worker" refers to Barney's wife Liz, who decides to try her hand at being one in a rough part of the Bronx. As Det. Mike Lovatelli, Art Metrano makes his only appearance in the squad room, due to Yemana's absence. Alex Henteloff (second of seven), usually seen as slimy attorney Arnold Ripner, makes his only appearance as convicted forger Harold Polanski, who can provide signatures from both celebrities like Clark Gable, or Founding Fathers such as John Hancock (eventually, he signs his own name to the Declaration of Independence). James Gregory makes his third appearance as Inspector Luger, who grows unusually attached to Wojo's autographed baseball, a memento from the 1936 World Series, which he uses for a paperweight. Fish worries that his memory is starting to go- all he remembers about his wedding anniversary is that it's "sometime in February!" This morning, he even forgot Bernice's name for a moment ("I knew who she was!"). By the time he's ready to go home, he's phoning a day old bakery for a suitable cake to celebrate her birthday...which was yesterday.
