Margaret Hayes guest stars as an American part of the English landed gentry and an old flame of Ben Cartwright's visits the Ponderosa. The addition of Little Joe is a surprise, when she and Ben were hot and heavy Adam and Hoss were kids and Ben hadn't married Michael Landon's mom.
At the same time the Ponderosa starts getting squeezed financially and the Cartwrights are having a cash flow problem.
