Bones:The Man in the Wall
Scarecrow-8822 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Brennan and Angela discover the mummified corpse of a dead Deejay, asphyxiated with Meth and hit across the skull with some sort of blunt object. This leads Booth and Brennan their investigation into the hip hop world as its possible that the one responsible could've been a record producer(who owns the club where the body was found), a rival with a newly built studio(where a body is found buried under a cement floor), and a girlfriend who is missing. Bokeem Woodbine and Morris Chestnut both have supporting parts as club owner and security respectively(Chestnut is actually an undercover agent and has a nice exchange with Booth over how to keep his role intact without giving away his disguise). Booth's relationship with Tessa takes a turn for the worse when a plan to go on vacation to Costa Rica is disrupted when she gets cold feet at the possibility of "moving to the next level", her commitment not a strong as Seeley's. This episode includes a touching scene where the murdered deejay's father visits Booth in his office over the importance of cleansing the victim's soiled name in the press and Brennan establishes that she enjoys hip hop music. Her scene at the beginning describing African American music in tribal terms and the high to a shower of Meth which goes up when the burial wall is kicked in are amusing moments which break the ice because this is ultimately a tragic story of denied love and a potential successful future squandered.

The One With The Man In The Wall...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. I think it's mainly because Bones basically gets high, and that's just hilarious.

In this episode, Angela finally gets Bones to go out with her to a night club, but the night turns sour when the body of a mummified corpse is found in a wall of the night club. A bag of methamphetamines is also discovered, and Bones gets secondhand high. Meanwhile, the team speculates because Booth is dating a lawyer.

Best part of the episode: Bones getting secondhand high.

Worst part of the episode: Nothing in particular.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

Just a Little Precious

Brennan and Angela end up at a disco. Brennan is really stiff and drinks too much. She ends up in a fight, a guy crashes against a wall, and a mummified body is behind it. The episode plays out in the hip hop world. Brennan, who is incredibly astute at all times, seems out to lunch with the music genre. What I'm saying is, she has had all of this anthropological training, including every century in the past, but seems to not know anything about contemporary popular culture (although that slips at times--Correct writers?). Eventually, the players in the story begin to fight over power. The conclusion proves a bit dull, but it is fun watching Bones negotiate the world she has only a passing interest in.

Great episode

Not as tense as the previous one but still a great one nonetheless.

Chemistry building up and they disappeared booth's gf who was just a random name and face and 0 development since we barely knew her at all.

Better suited as an animation
interestingstuff28 April 2022
This episode is so stupid, over-the-top and ridiculous that it would have been better suited to be filmed as an animation. It felt like I was watching an episode of Scooby-Doo instead of a crime show. The entire thing made no sense from the beginning to the end and they didn't really "solve" the case because the ridiculous methods they've used and the conclusions they've reached would have been thrown out of court in real life.

Jesus

Warning: Spoilers
I'm confused by the dad of the victim in this episode. He stated he taught his son a personal relationship with Jesus. Then he said he took a plaster mold of his son's hand to a palm reader. While this was a great episode, creative story line, I don't appreciate Hollywood's tendancy to portray Christianity in this manner. I loved Bones' explanation of the music in the club. Even another partron stepped up to defend her. With the current division in this country, it's important to point out the positives. Sadly, I think if this episode was relased today it would be another victim of Cancel Culture.
