That mean old Buddy Hinton
gregorycanfield23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Interestingly, Susan Olson had a lisp, in real life. As the character Cindy, she had the obvious reaction to being teased about her lisp. I wonder how Susan, herself, felt about having a real issue made the subject of an episode. I've never thought that Russell Schulman was the best choice for Buddy Hinton. He mouthed all the dialogue, but he wasn't what you might expect a "bully" to look like. Paul Sorenson, as Buddy's abrasive father, was more believable. In any case, the best part of the episode is the way Peter goes all out to defend Cindy. It was a nice thing to watch. Christopher Knight and Susan Olson had a detectable chemistry. No such chemistry was apparent between any of the other Brady siblings. Overall, the episode plays well. It was nice that Buddy and Peter and Cindy all became friends in the end. But, of course, Buddy was never seen again after this episode.

The Bully

Cindy is being teased at school and Peter tries to defend her.

One of the best episodes. It was a good one for both Cindy and Peter. It begins with one of the most poignant moments in the series. Cindy comes home, will not talk and goes to her room and cries. She later admits to Mike and Carol that she is being teased at school because of her lisp. She says they say she talks like a baby especially that "mean old Buddy Hinton".

Buddy (Russell Shulman) is one of the nastiest bullies on a sitcom. When Peter tells him to stop Buddy calls him chicken and wants to fight. Mike and Carol have some good scenes when they try to reason with Buddy's parents. The father is bigger bully and the mother is a doormat.

Mike decides Peter needs to defend himself and the showdown with Buddy is one of the best moments in the series.
