Dear Libby, What do I do?
jaybabb20 June 2006
Lead in this episode: All the kids Marcia(Maureen McCormick)is reading the "Dear Libby" advice column in the paper to Jan & Cindy. She comes across one that makes her think that it could have been written by Mike or Carol.

After she shows the letter to Greg, they hold a meeting with the other kids. Bascicly, the letter implies that one of the parents is having problems with the kids and wants Libby's Advice on what to do.

Believing that the writer of the letter is Either Mike or Carol, The kids decides to become do-gooders. They do things without being told-like raking the leaves in the yard or going to bed without being told-that sort of thing.

Then, "dear Libby" shows up and pays the family a visit. Did Mike Or Carol write the Letter? Watch and find out.

When Jan and Peter were watching tv, there were 2 hanging pictures on the wall behind Jan. A little later when Cindy and Bobby were playing checkers, there is only one hanging picture on that same wall.

Only the second episode, and so many problems
gregorycanfield8 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode, like a few others, illustrates that the show really didn't deserve the ultra-wholesome reputation that the show has always had. This was pretty adult subject matter. The episode also seems to be "jumping ahead," in a sense. This was the second episode of the series. This merged family hadn't been together long enough, for one of the parents to have developed such issues. The business of the kids always fighting with each other is familiar now, after you've seen all the episodes dozens of times. It might not have been obvious when the episode was originally broadcasted. Then, count all the things that are suddenly different, compared to the pilot episode. The house is different. No reference to whether or not it's "supposed" to be a different house. I'm not sure if Tiger appears here, but Fluffy the cat is out of the picture. Then, there was Carol's silly wig. She looked so much nicer in the first episode. One might question why she wore a wig in the early episodes. She had her own hair. My personal opinion: I think they were trying to tone her down! Florence Henderson had it going on! She was very sexy, and they tried to make her come across as more "motherly." Now, what was I saying about this episode?!

Cute early episode
Stache6219 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was a cute early episode. Cindy is still cracking wise ("Boy, keepin' them married sure is gonna be hard work!") and unimportant little slice-of-life moments like Mike chastising Marcia for not closing a closet door add a nice touch of realism. However, there's one major plot error that could have ended the episode's conflict in about five minutes: Both Mike and Carol express to Alice their fears that the other wrote the letter to Dear Libby. Alice, therefore, should have then realized that NEITHER of them wrote the letter. Yet she still ended up writing her own letter to Dear Libby. Alice is smarter than that.
