Some Do... Some Don't (1984)
Larry Hagman: J.R. Ewing
Quotes
-
Katherine Wentworth : [lying back on bed, head hanging down] I never thought this would happen. Ever since we met,
[shakes her head]
Katherine Wentworth : It's been like a game. And finally one of us won.
J.R. Ewing : [getting dressed] Well... it wasn't exactly the Olympics. Of course, they got four years of practice.
[chuckles]
Katherine Wentworth : Don't rush off. You know, you told me some time ago that you'd help me break up Bobby and Jenna.
[rubs his shoulder]
Katherine Wentworth : Nothing's happened.
J.R. Ewing : Now don't tell me you made the ultimate sacrifice just to get my help.
Katherine Wentworth : [shrugs] Well, this is what you wanted.
[adding firmly:]
Katherine Wentworth : Now what about what I want?
J.R. Ewing : Well... I have a little problem there.
Katherine Wentworth : [smiles] I thought there were never any problems for you, J.R.
J.R. Ewing : Katherine, much as I like you - and I like you a lot now - I think Bobby and Jenna are a match made in heaven.
Katherine Wentworth : [frowns, sits upright] You what? Look, you promised me...
J.R. Ewing : I promised that if we went to bed, I'd help you. But I just wanted to find out how far you were willing to go to get Bobby, that's all.
[shakes his head]
Katherine Wentworth : [seethes] Don't even dream of double-crossing me.
J.R. Ewing : [stares her down] Well... Katherine, don't threaten me, honey. You're out of your league. Besides...
[gets his tie]
J.R. Ewing : Bobby and Jenna belong together.
[puts it on]
J.R. Ewing : After all, he is the father of her little girl.
Katherine Wentworth : Say you don't know that! Not for sure.
J.R. Ewing : Oh, yes, I do. I've known for a long time. You see, I have a friend over in Rome who got me a copy of the birth certificate, uh, years ago. I thought that was the reason you went over there. Oh, I wish I could have seen your face when you found out that Bobby was the father.
Katherine Wentworth : [shrugs defiantly] I don't care if he is the father.
[shrugs]
Katherine Wentworth : I want him. And I'll get him.
J.R. Ewing : Mm. Maybe yes, maybe no. But you've just done something that's gonna keep you from getting Bobby for good. Did you ever meet a lady named Holly Harwood?
Katherine Wentworth : [frowns] Just once. She made a *disgusting* play for Bobby in my presence.
J.R. Ewing : I think Bobby might have liked her. She made the same mistake you did, honey.
[picks up his jacket]
J.R. Ewing : She slept with me. If she ever *did* have a chance with him, that knocked her *right* out of the box.
Katherine Wentworth : Oh, I'm sure there were other reasons.
J.R. Ewing : [picks up device] I wouldn't put it to the test if I were you. No, you just do what I want when I want, and nobody will ever know about tonight.
Katherine Wentworth : [shakes her head] Not so fast, J.R. It is your word against mine. And why would Bobby *possibly* believe you?
J.R. Ewing : Oh,
[turns around]
J.R. Ewing : he might not believe me, but he will believe his own ears.
[holds up cassette]
J.R. Ewing : He may never have heard you under these conditions... but you have a very distinctive voice no matter what you're saying.
[she exhales in exasperation]
J.R. Ewing : Would you like me to play it back for you?
Katherine Wentworth : [shakes her head, croaks:] No...
J.R. Ewing : [turns to leave] I'll call you.
[leaves her behind feeling very foolish to have fallen for his trick]
