If Daria goes down to the woods today...
Tweekums22 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After receiving a large pile of bills Jake gets so stressed that he ruptures a blood vessel in his eye; Helen decides that he needs to take a break so the whole family ends up camping in the woods. Not surprisingly it doesn't go to well... Jake believes camping means living off the land but as he doesn't know anything about the local flora three of them end up hallucinating after eating psychotropic berries! Luckily Daria gives them a miss but when Jake sees the bill for their rescue he'll wish she didn't. If Daria's weekend sounds bad at least it isn't as bad as Jane's; she has to go to a family reunion with her brother and it is clear that none of their relations like them.

This was a pretty funny episode; I particularly liked their scary stories around the campfire; Daria's was so gruesome the others nearly vomited and Helen had to stop hers just before it got pornographic! The way Jake kept ranting about things was pretty funny although it is impossible not to feel sorry for him at times. Jane and Trent's story wasn't as funny but it did provide some laughs such as when Trent went on about how terrible his aunt's hat was not realising she was sat a couple of feet away on the plane! Since both stories took place away from school it meant that many usually amusing characters didn't appear in the episode which was a bit of a shame but didn't spoil it.

The horrid weekend..
planktonrules6 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
As usual, Jake is high-strung and a bit on edge. However, this time he ruptures a blood vessel in his eye as he's THAT tense. So, to relax, he and Helen decide that the family should take a weekend trip to go hiking. Later, however, things go amiss when the family eats some wild berries. While this sounds 100% miserable, it's worse for poor Jane and Trent, as they've been forced to go to a family reunion where they are not welcome and no one appreciates their 'specialness'.

All in all, a pretty funny episode. While it is not one you'll list among the very best of season one, this is still pretty funny. Seeing Jake, Helen and Quinn after they eat the berries is cute.
