This is the Fall Guy I remember!

Plot; When Colt's friend and fellow stuntman is severely injured on set, Colt steps in to take his place while trying to piece together the mysterious circumstances.

I bought S1 of 'The Fall Guy' a while back, and I've since picked my way through a couple of random episodes with somewhat disappointing results. It's not that I thought it was going to be high art, but it was always a childhood favorite of mine, and I was hoping it would entertain on a level beyond mere nostalgia. Unfortunately, beyond the latter, the episodes were a bit flat and failed to achieve the former. That's common I suppose, but always a tad disappointing none the less. But I sank a whole $10 into this baby, so with an hour to kill before bed and nothing else to watch, I popped it in. I'm glad I did.

"Goin' For It!" is 'The Fall Guy' I remember. Lee Majors is extremely charming as Colt Seavers, a laidback good 'ol boy who sort of epitomizes the word "macho" for that era. Decked out in his Wranglers, boots, baseball cap and flannel shirt, he saunters his way through the rough and tumble world of Hollywood stunts and moonlight bounty hunting. This episode wisely focuses on the stunt side of things, and though it has many of the clumsy and cheesy trappings of the era, they add to rather than detract from the fun. The aforementioned stunts aren't exactly dazzlingly, but they're fun and serve the story.

So often revisiting TV shows and cartoons from our childhood takes a bit of the rose hue from our glasses, but happily in this case it only reaffirms that my childhood did indeed rule.
