Don't be a flabby before when you can be a muscular after!

Warning: Spoilers
Fred Flintstone- Before And After is the Season 1 finale- & what a way to close Season 1! It was written by Warren Foster, Mike Maltese and Arthur Phillips. John Stephenson, Hal Smith and Bern Bennett also supplied voices as well as the cast. The TV studios are desperate to find the right "Before" model for Fat Off Weight Losing. They spot Fred and con him my asking "How'd you like to be a TV star?" Fred eats it up and agrees. He comes home and tells Wilma he's going to be on TV. He invites the bowling league over to watch his TV debut. When they see he's the Before character, they all leave. Wilma, Barney and Betty have to set Fred straight that the TV studios made a fool out of him. The next day, Wilma goes to the TV studio and demands the commercial be taken off the air "or I'll sue you, report you to the FCC and slap your face!" BJ the President agrees and says if Fred can lose 25 pounds in 1 month, he'll pay the Flintstones $1000. Barney jokes "It'll be a battle between the smackeroos and the snackeroos!" To make sure Fred keeps good on his diet, Wilma boobytraps both their refrigerator and the Rubbles'. The next day, Barney suggests Fred join Food Anonymous. He attends the meeting and they tell him, "You'll know us by this phrase- Goink! Goink! Goink!" Well, Fred hears the phrase everywhere each time he tries to eat something! Finally, the big night comes and a starving Fred has become grumpy and bitter. He steps on the scale and Fred has lost the 25 pounds! He collects the money and calls Food Anonymous to tell him he's resigning. So Fred sits down to eat- but the President of Food Anonymous must not have gotten the message and confiscates his supper! Overview: As I said before, this is the perfect closer for Season 1. Fred's hamming it up in front of a (non-existent) Peek-a-boo Camera and the lampshade act during the party are priceless! And Wilma coming to Fred's defense shows she is indeed a force to be reckoned with. And the phrase "Goink! Goink! Goink!"- well, you may catch yourself chanting that, too! 10 goinks out of 10!

A very memorable episode

Took awhile for the classic humor to get started. About at the middle when Fred went to Food Anonymous the hilarity kicked in. The episode had a lot of extra characters to it. Besides the main cast Hal Smith, John Stephenson, and Bern Bennett (who I'm not familiar with) did some did very unique voices. The voices were so good at times it was difficult to tell which actor was doing them.

The highlights of the episode where the classic gags and bits that were in the second half of the episode that I remember so well from viewing as a kid. Fred attempting to steal Dino's bone, booby trapped exploding refrigerator, Food Anonymous helpers saying goink, goink, goink, then the final scene of Fred chasing his stolen stuffed pterodactyl.

I rated the episode average of an excellent season 1 at 7.9 out of 10.
