This is a hilarious episode of the flintstones, one of the best episodes in fact. Apparently our man Fred has a compulsive-gambling problem that he has managed to keep under control for the last 5 years or so by not doing any gambling whatsoever.
It seems that Fred owes Arnold the paperboy for several weeks worth of newspapers, which is much-more money than he expected. Somehow the idea comes-up for a marble-game to settle the debt,if Fred wins he doesn't have to pay the bill,if he loses he owes Arnold double the original newspaper bill.
Our man Fred ends-up losing the bet,and the marble-game goes into overtime for double-or-nothing. Fred loses this bet. Fred starts to get more and more excited and wound-up with each bet that he makes,no matter if he wins or loses,he is hot for the next bet!
On and on this goes, and before you know it,Fred has gambled-away the TV,the furniture and who knows what will be next !
This is a very-funny episode that is also has a good warning and lesson with several examples of the very-real risks and pitfalls of casual gambling turning into compulsive gambling.
This Flintstones episode is almost an anti-gambling public-service announcement disguised as some very humorous entertainment, and in my opinion it succeeds at both ! Great show.
