Whose baby is that? What's your angle? I'll buy that!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode, The Tycoon, written by Warren Foster, Mike Maltese and Arthur Phillips, is sort of a Stone Age Prince And Pauper story. Wilma's mother is sick so she'll be out of town for a few days. Meanwhile, JL Gotrocks (a parody of Rockefeller, voiced by Alan Reed), millionaire tycoon who looks just like Fred, quits his job just before an important meaning. So JL's henchmen FM (voiced by John Stephenson, who also narrates this episode) and GW (voiced by Mel Blanc) find Fred in a nearby gravel pit and beg him to fill in for JL until they find him. "Think of those widows and babies! And think of our cinchy jobs!" So Mr. Boulder reluctantly agrees to let Fred go. Wilma's mother calls back and tells her she's feeling better and there's no need to make a trip. She calls Fred's boss to tell him the good news. But when Mr. Boulder tells her he'll be away for a few days, Wilma is furious and coordinates a search party around Bedrock. Betty and Barney agree. They don't find Fred but hear of JL (mistaken as Fred), who's been carrying a "roll of bills that'd choke a dinosaur" and calls his wife a "battle axe." Fred gets tired of playing JL after a while and also quits, causing FM and GW to chase after him. While in Bedrock, Barney spots JL who claims he doesn't know him or Wilma. Barney tries to shake his hand but gets body slammed by JL! So Wilma, Betty and Barney go home, anxious to find out what's been going on and Barney can't wait to repay the snub! All's unwell that ends unwell, as FM and GW lose their cinchy jobs by Gottrocks and Fred comes home to the wrath of Wilma, Barney and Betty!

Overview: I didn't really like the ending as Fred gets accused of doing everything his rich (& rather jerky) double did by his wife and friends. What I did like was some of the jokes like the parrot who acts as an answering machine ("Tell my wife to buy her own liver and hair curlers!") and Fred just saying "Whose baby is that?" without knowing what he's talking about. I also liked John Stephenson's narration at the beginning and the scene where Fred and JL are right behind each other and don't even know it! All in all, I give this 8 rolls of bills out of 10! In conclusion, speak kindly about your spouses and try to make that trip to the supermarket for their liver and hair curlers!

Look alike

Warning: Spoilers
A pretty good episode. Fred thinks Wilma will be at her mothers for a few days he reluctantly accepts to fill in for look alike JL Gotrocks . JL wants the simple life and goes to a lot of Fred's regular haunts. JL's assistants are most concerned about their cinchy jobs! They could be in jeopardy if JL's disappearance is discovered. JL is the biggest of tycoons and Fred is a dead ringer . Wilma won't be leaving after all and when she learns Fred has taken off she's furious. She Barney and Betty go looking for him. They learn Fred is spending money wildly and when they see him he's insulting and violent. It's not Fred of course but they don't know that. They decide to wait it out at home. Fred himself has had enough and keeps dodging the people who want him to help keep their cinchy jobs! He finally gets away. JL wants his old life back too and his assistants trap him in a trash can thinking he's Fred ! How long will they keep their cinchy jobs!

Fred arrives home and is happy to be there and he's also happy to see Wilma and his friends. They however have a lot of questions! The episode ends with him being yelled at by all three. Will they believe him? Unfortunately we never find out but I think they can put it together with what they saw themselves. It's one of the early episodes that has the characters going somewhat outside their usual lives.

Véry well written.

Wow! What a great episode. Unique to the show telling the story in a flashback. Each of the main characters did quite a few voices which is always a treat. Alan Reed doing a upper class stuffed shirt showed his tremendous voice character range. As does the rest of the main cast also. Alan Reed and Mel Blanc are amazing all the various Joe 6-pack working stiff voices they have. A tremendous showcase episode for John Stephenson's many voices also. He's the ultimate narrator par excellence. As a kid watching I remember JL Gotrock's yes men workers referring to their "cinchy jobs" that I always found humorous. Definitely 10*. One one the series best episodes.
