Mediocre episode with some great parts

Warning: Spoilers
What's her name...Julia Sweeney... annoys me. I know that is what she's supposed to do, but Frasier has a habit of picking such great performers to play such unlikable characters that it makes me not want to watch the episodes again.

But...funny plot point with Nile's painting... and one of my favorite lines... when Frasier fears of being sued.... "Please...please don't sue me. MY...THINGS!!! My beautiful beautiful things. I love them so"

Episode overall is fine enough...but all I really remember are the high points that I like.

Ann of the Thousand Nights

When Martin forgets to pay Frasier's homeowner's policy he has to get a new agent. Roz sends that awful woman, Ann. Unfortunately, she slips and falls, and in order to avoid a lawsuit, Frasier takes her in with her broken leg. It leads to more misery than one person should ever face.

One of the worst of the last season

There were several unlikable and highly annoying characters throughout Frasier's 11 seasons, Ann Hodges is one of them. She's Roz's friend who works in insurance and had a disastrous date with Frasier a few episodes prior.

After finding that his home insurance policy has elapsed, Frasier hopes to amend things with Ann by employing her to write up a new policy for him. Unfortunately, she slips and falls in his kitchen and, because of her overzealous shrieks about suing people who do her wrong, Frasier allows her to stay in his apartment. She is quite an annoyance immediately and an unpleasant house guest. It's hard to laugh at her because she is just unbearable.

Luckily, there is a great subplot involving Niles and Maris. We get to see housekeeper Marta again for the first time in several seasons, though this is her final appearance in the series. It, too, is Maris' final "appearance" in the series, bringing one of the greatest unseen tv characters' story to a satisfactory conclusion.

The Ann Who Came to Dinner

Ann was a fun and interesting character as a one off, but I certainly didn't expect, or really want her back for a repeat appearance.

That is what we get here though, and surprise surprise, the novelty factor wears off very quickly.

There is very little new done with the character here, and while it's passable and perfectly entertaining enough, we've seen it all before.

The Maris ongoing plot is fine, it's nice to see them trying a story arc (Series Nine didn't bother with such things), but even that feels like it had run its course a couple of episodes ago.

Overall, a passable enough episode, but certainly nothing special.
